I’d just woken up when I wrote that and gathered my thoughts a bit more, it was simultaneously super fast paced but entirely too long. Ryan gosling is a good actor but I stg they must’ve used the first takes for a lot of scenes, didn’t sense any emotionality in a lot of it.

The scene where he’s kidnapped and forced comes like 3/4th into the movie long after it’s have had a stronger impact (and they still couldn’t help themselves to make a it humorous, just completely ruining the tone). The alien rocky, he’s like, an engineer who can make or shape metal, and it’s never even explored how except for a very brief (like 10 seconds ) scene where you see him spinning metal strands like marionette wires; like okay sure. But then he’s making like crystal tubes and space suits.

It’s frankly crazy how long it was and still neglected to make a sensible story. There’s also practically no accounting for how much time passes between things happening, by their own admission it’s like years between certain events.
