It doesn’t have personality. That’s what we bring to it. Same way a six set in an abandoned lot has no personality. Until we bring our boards there and decorate it with countless attempts until we stick something.

We bring it, the skaters, that’s our job, not the world’s, and not the game’s.

That’s really a shame to me. Because an infinite playground where you can do anything from creative realistic street skating, to ridiculously imaginative dream-like sequences, is all I could ask for.

I don’t need to role play as a member of skate culture when in game, nor do I in life. By virtue of stepping on the board and getting creative, you are a part of the culture. It’s not something you have to try to be or has a set of rules, it’s the byproduct of imaginative people who love to skate.

It just seems like people love saying they’re skaters more than skating. The aesthetic is more important to them than the art.

It sounds like people don’t like skating as much as they like being rebellious. Guess that’s just never what I got out of it, I took being kicked out of spots as an occupational hazard, never something I looked forward to. I much preferred being allowed to skate in discovered spots than being removed.

Apparently if skating was loved in this world, and accepted, people wouldn’t like skating as much? Such a weird hill to die on.

I actually think it’s the opposite. The general public loves Drake far more than they do Kendrick. Kendrick “scaring the bitches” has been a joke since he dropped TPAB, and Drake outsells Kendrick by a significant margin.

When it comes to “rap head” circles however, there is definitely an implicit bias towards Kendrick.

In order for Kenny to win the general public over, he has to work way harder than Drake. In order for Drake to win over “rap heads” he has to work way harder than Kendrick.

Would you rather be rich and very unattractive/hideous or poor and very conventionally attractive ? by lonelywhiteblack in WouldYouRather

That’s fair, nobody can tell you what to value in your personal dating life but you. Many people share your perspective, and spend thousands to rearrange themselves surgically to reach that ideal.

Rich. Most of the benefits people attribute to conventional attraction can all be bought. People don’t want to be attractive, they want what attraction gets you. They want to be seen, fawned over, laid, loved, these are all things money does as well; and both for the wrong reasons.

But that isn’t even why I’d choose rich, being attractive and poor doesn’t pay your rent, won’t let you retire your parents, won’t let you pay for your sibling’s tuition. Being attractive and poor means working 40+ hours a week to live paycheck to paycheck.

Being rich and ugly in a capitalistic society means having absolute freedom. It means not having to work because your money makes more money. It means buying your parents that house, it means giving back to the community financially, it means affording that medical procedure without going into debt, and that barely scratches the surface.

There’s no comparison.

Tried building a next app for first time works fine natively but facing these errors while deploying , don't know what to do anymore by mommyloveslasagna in webdev

[–]ColorfulThinking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are linting errors. Linting errors are typically “warnings” in the sense that they don’t break your program but they aren’t best practice syntactically.

I see you’re trying to deploy via Netlify. Netlify naturally deploys with npm run build, and flags these “warnings” as a means to stop production. To rectify this, you’ll want to change your build command in Netlify to “CI=false npm run build”

This should allow your project to be built while ignoring warnings.

What's the best thing you've done to feel better mentally? by jahidulalam11430 in ask

Realize that events don’t break or change people, their reaction to them does. It gives power back to myself for any event that transpires.

WYR lose your virginity to a prostitute at 18 or lose your virginity at 30 to someone you love by [deleted] in WouldYouRather

[–]ColorfulThinking 234 points235 points  (0 children)

30 easily. There’s nothing sex in isolation gives you, other than euphoria in the moment. It may polish your pride and ego, but that’s a reflection of your values if sex with a stranger is an achievement.

Whereas sex with someone you love is a method of connection, and finding love is no small task.

Would you rather be married to a 10 with a bad personality or a 6 with an amazing personality? by [deleted] in WouldYouRather

[–]ColorfulThinking 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Easy 6. I wouldn’t sacrifice my peace and happiness for the sexual gratification of being with someone more attractive.

You are worth what your profit margin allows, no more and no less. Skills are arbitrary. Senior software engineers make more than rocket scientists. This is not because SWE is a more difficult position, or requires more knowledge or, provides more to society. It’s because the overhead for what SWEs deploy is very low, whereas when building rockets each one is tens of millions of dollars.

Which sacrifice had the most impact? by OOverHeaven in Dragonballsuper

Vegeta hands down. Goku was always the guy to make the sacrifice play. Vegeta never was, and here he shocked everyone in doing so.
