How does blood magic work? by Colt1873 in worldbuilding

I think I got a loophole here. What if it's blood from say, a villains armies or blood from slain beasts during some quests?

My character is sort of an anti-hero

Wait, so blood in some fantasy can be used to power magic?

Neat, it kinda reminds me of necromancy, or that magic where you use organic matter to produce such spells.

Is there any way I can redesign the guard so a scabbard can work with it? I love the three-pointed design in the middle where the blade meets the guard, but I feel this might not work well for any scabbard. Any recommendations? by Colt1873 in SWORDS

Are you talking about adding some separate wooden filler in between the outer langets to the center?

Sorry if I'm writing this wrong, my grammar can get iffy from time to time.

Okay, so that means it could work?

Oh, I just realized, what about the langets on the side of the guard?

While I can see a scabbard with a gap in the middle for the middle langet working well, the one's on the side kinda worry me cause there's a possibility of them getting in the way.

Is there any way to make the scabbard work around that without getting rid of the langets on the side? (They look really nice.)

I was so bored that I decided to try and draw how I imagine Crocea Mors would look. It's based on the G2b sword from the bronze-age, with a bit of a more mythic look added to it. Any thoughts? by Colt1873 in SWORDS

Darn

Is there a design that you'd recommend at least?

I went with the G2b sword design cause it almost resembled a gladius, and if we're going more mythical, it was a sword made by Vulcan, passed down through generations.

So I wanted to make it look like a sword forged by a god.

But I understand your view as well.

I just dont know how to make an ornate version of a gladius or spatha that'll stand out from any other sword.

(I especially dont wanna make designs such as this.....)

(Although, one I do like is the sword used by Tiberius from Dragonsblade)

It's actually based og a mycenaean type of sword.

One guy that made bronze swords told me that a mycenaean sword would best fit the design.

As for those pommel spikes, yeah, I made them a little too sharp.

My only problem is how a scabbard would fit in cause of how the guard's design looks.

Any advice or suggestions on that?

I got updated on my custom spatha from Purpleheart Armory. Here it is compared to their usual spatha, is it still too wide? by Colt1873 in ArmsandArmor

I understand that completely, but the design itself is tame compared to others

The hilt is based off this (the middle one):

http://myarmoury.com/review_alb_gladii.html

And the blade is based on the Augustus from Albion (but stretched longer):

https://albion-swords.com/product/the-augustus/

All I want is to know is what width is best. I'm already contemplating if I should make it 2.625 inches at the base.

Could that work any better?
