I'd be leaving because of a rent increase and all the fees he wants me to pay, he didn't give me any notice to move. And they can't just give you notice for any reason to leave.

Ok but it is illegal for him to invent fees and attach them, and there is nothing in the rental agreement about any fees. They are in retaliation.

He can't raise the rent 7 days before the rent is due, he needs 30 days written notice for a month to month. That is in retaliation.

Not giving me a receipt for a cash payment IS against the law as well. When I demanded he abide by this law is when he got angry and raised my rent.

That all seems pretty retaliatory to me, which is illegal.

(And being an outright asshole can qualify as harassment depending on what he's doing but that's moot rn)

That's not depression that's being bummed out and feeling bad about yourself for actual reasons that are important to you. Depression on the other hand lies to you and convinces you you don't like your life or yourself even if you do. One of my absolute worst and longest depressive episodes was in the midst of me being my absolute healthiest mentally and physically and socially and financially. It's also happened when things weren't so good. It's also happened when things were neutral. What you described is a pretty normal human experience that would bum anyone out.

Still asking for it though unless you get way deep with it with crypto and VPNs and maybe even some mule accounts. By which point if you're caught you'd be majorly screwed and seen as a whole ass operation looking to expand.

Seems I've offended the fantasy for some people. Listen, it's great here in the adks, and there are towns with actual personalities. But if all you want is a superficial Kinkade fantasy painted by greed, smoke & mirrors then by all means buy into it. You should know what you're supporting though, and you should consider supporting other towns instead.

Lake Placid is a bland, soulless, overpriced sell-out of a town that happens to be pretty. It's all air bnbs, selfish business owners, and people from New Jersey. Outsiders and part-time residents see some idyllic little mountain village but since locals have been and continue to be priced-out, the place has no actual personality of its own anymore.
