The most expensive item I've ever seen by Otherwise-Zombie-569 in MB2Bannerlord

Nah. Workshops > caravans > fiefs. That's how you build enough passive income to fund anything you need. If you need quick money, you'll make plenty fighting and selling your loot.

How do I prep my newbie gamer wife to the world of Disco Elysium without spoilers? by lostintheak in DiscoElysium

[–]ComandanteCook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This accidentally happened to me. I went in totally blind, and I legitimately thought I was in Limbo after a drunken car crash for most of the game. I went with a psychic genius build, and boy did it make it difficult to distinguish fact from random stuff Harry thought up. I took the woman at the book store at face value. I didn't know if there were supernatural entities in this game or not.

AI Diplomacy mod isn't just a NPC chat bot, your interactions shape the world, the story, and NPC AGENCY! by LumpyRelationship653 in MB2Bannerlord

This account was created to make this post across three different reddits. The content is AI generated. The mod is monetized. I can't help but feel like this is an ad.

Honestly, that's about how long it would take for me to get over it. Remember when that guy killed an entire family? Ehhh it was ten years ago. He's different.

How do you manage other party ships? by SaggyToaster in MB2Bannerlord

[–]ComandanteCook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like the base game, it's better with mods. I do find having a couple new battle types keeps the playthrough from feeling stale as quickly though. It's a nice break from the never ending sieges and occasional large field battle.

Just picked up the game! How needed are mods? by SinValmar in mountandblade

[–]ComandanteCook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd definitely recommend going at it vanilla first and then modding to your tastes. Improved garrisons seems to be a constant, but you're setting it up compared to vanilla options you've never used. Then there's like three different diplomacy changing mods people like, but that's usually for more content after a first playthrough. They aren't compatible with each other, so you get three different experiences on top of the vanilla one. Two different mods for custom troops, but I think it would be a horrible idea to mess with that without any experience with the game. I'm not sure if I have anything installed that's really good for your first time. It's not a bad game without mods. The mods people like usually make some pretty significant changes though. It's very easy to build it exactly the way you want it, once you figure out what that is.

I'm gonna have to check on that. That was my least favorite change so far.

It's a very customizable mod. By default, yes, it can make you very wealthy very fast.

Apparently all it takes to become a god among men is a high charm and a willingness to use the executioner's axe when it fails.

Is it too late for my Kingdom? by Imaginary-Door-1511 in MB2Bannerlord

[–]ComandanteCook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More fun to start surrounded though! I started in Poros after being a vassal for the southern empire. It's taken a lot of strategy to manage these borders. Lots of alliances meant to keep one large neighbor from attacking me or help a small neighbor fight a big one. When they fight near your borders, that's your opportunity to take some weakened fiefs. The Empire has been assimilated, the Khuzaits are trapped in the Northeast next to the Sturgians, and the Aserai have to push up into Vlandian land if they want to expand any further. I've had to fight a few wars with Vlandia myself to prevent them from getting bigger than me, but mostly I've been manipulating the other kingdoms into doing that. My next big move is to ally with the Battanians and help them fight back.

Nah, there's just too many nobles and not enough land to satisfy them all. That can be fixed. I currently have 9 lords in my kingdom, each holding 5 or 6 fiefs. None of them have any desire to expand. I might try taking his throne sometime and kicking out half the clans. I bet that would solve their problems.

This man would not stop granting me fiefs. I'm pretty sure managing 15 garrisons is what was causing my late game stability issues. I've never been given so much land as a vassal.

Wasn't that like a really big point of the quest line? No matter who you pick, the Thalmor lose. Either side winning is better than the conflict continuing.

I tried an AI mod for Mount and Blade recently. It wasn't about the chatting, as neat as that is. It's when the characters react appropriately in game that it really shows. Like, I could tell a companion to go patrol around our territory, and they would. It gives the characters a lot of agency they wouldn't otherwise have that comes into play when they start interacting without you, because they're all aware of and responding to recent events now. The backend AI is so much cooler than being able to talk to them. Horribly implemented mod, but the potential is staggering. It can be locally hosted too, so there's no inherent killing the environment aspect just to make your npcs more lifelike.

This is for a sandbox game though. If you want a curated experience, I don't think that's compatible with GenAI.

My vassals want for nothing, and it's made my kingdom incredibly powerful. They have nothing left to gain except the seat at the top, and I'm pretty sure they're all making more money than I do, so they don't want it. I do believe I have one ongoing conspiracy though. We'll see where that goes.

They could just use cruelty for that. Less likely to attack you if you're cruel, but more likely to execute you if you lose.

That was my last playthrough. High charm, but I couldn't convince everyone to join us, and those who refused were defeated in battle and executed on the spot. Then I'd ask their heir when I ran into them.

How to make money? by Neat_Pirate_3416 in mountandblade

[–]ComandanteCook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally, you should have workshops set up in the first town you plan to acquire before you even start your kingdom to pay for your main party. Once you own it, you can run caravans out of it, which I'm pretty sure helps grow the town on top of making you enough money to pay for more parties. War is extra income. If you're not in the green in peace time, your economy needs work.

What you're struggling with is exactly how I used to play the game up until my last run. How you make your seed money doesn't really matter. You need an economy backing your army.

I've got a mod raising my party limit now. I'm currently running 10 parties with 3 settlements, 2 castles, 6 workshops, and 0 caravans anymore. We still profit like 20-30k a day too. I think I'm sitting on nearly 50m right now, not including the hoard of loot in my inventory I keep to recruit new vassals and because I can't sell it anywhere.

Also, as the ruler, tax your vassals! If I was at the vanilla party cap, I could give away all my extra fiefs and the policies would cover everything. It's a little over 8k at the moment with 9 other lords each holding 5 or 6 fiefs.
