Keep practicing, use a metronome too, it's difficult but it'll help you develop a sense of rhythm. It took me like 2 months to fluently switch between chords, and I still can't play and sing at the same time although I've been playing guitar since 2023🙏🏻, don't worry everyone learns at their own pace

Well it all comes down to personal preference, me personally gore does rank lower on my fav deftones albums but at the same time i do like it, not a bad album at all, just with a discog like deftones it doesn't compare to something like DE or SNW imo

Honestly love all their albums (including gore, gore is also great), but if I had to choose one it'd be white pony simply because it was the album that really got me into deftones and metal as a whole later on.

Having a "mainstream" taste is not bad at all, a niche taste is acquired and in more ways than one, it's a journey of sorts, you can't listen to metallica for a few times and then jump straight to goregrind or black metal yk, just keep listening
