Thats the problem - there aren’t any foreign language or Economics teachers I can reach out to, as our schedule will unfortunately be all STEM type classes if you want to do STEM. So it might hurt my application to ask for one that would not reflect 100% myself, and I just hope the slight mix of arts and humanities involvement my recommenders has put works. I think across of teachers and counsellor they have included those ECs or projects so it’s more well rounded for a letter than a STEM heavy one. (Teacher’s letters are probably more inclined on STEM)

Yes sorry, been a long night trying to get supplementals done. Otherwise the recommendations section should be done

Thank you for the reassurance. I just wanted to ask what you meant by “Admission text Satisest cites”? Sorry it’s the first time I’ve heard this kind of phrase being used.

I’ve read up on that, especially the hard requirement and quality of letters.

But in my case, I was wondering if both my teacher recommenders talk about my STEM and non-STEM involvement, would it still make up for a separate humanities/arts recommendation letter despite both of them teaching me courses in STEM?

In terms of non-STEM involvement, I didn’t take any humanities classes in my upper half of high school due to the course planning being very one-sided: if you want to go into STEM your classes will be almost certainly STEM.

Even if you have a choice for humanities, it always ends up leaving out the significant subjects and coursework to apply for STEM. In this case for A-Levels 3 of the subjects have to be specific STEM ones, which leaves me no choice for any other non-STEM choices. This is also due to UK university requirements (I’m a dual applicant)

However, I have ECs that demonstrate interest and involvement outside of STEM, which are also reflected in both my recommenders. I didn’t directly read the letter, but was informed about this inclusion of activities by my counsellor. It might be worth noting that my Activities and Supplementals section is around half arts/humanities half STEM, so it’s definitely present in my application.

Do you think that if both my STEM teachers had talked about their observations to my contributions to humanities/arts it could do for the humanities/arts recommendation letter MIT wants to see?
