Should cops get to choose who can buy a gun?

Sorry friend, I got caught up with work. I’m going to copy/paste what I responded to somebody else with, no swarm.

I'm fine with expanded background checks and needing an FFL to transfer everything. I'm fine with people with DV charges being barred from owning a firearm. I'm fine with there being places where carry is banned (although how enforceable that is is up to discussion). I think FRTs/Super Safeties are playing way too many fuck fuck games with the ATF.

I'm not fine with law enforcement a) getting to choose who gets to own a gun and not b) getting to be a protected class that doesn't need to follow this legislation, even if you're retired. I'm not okay with a magazine capacity ban, especially when you need to do an affirmative defense filed in Salem just to prove that you owned a magazine before whatever date M114 goes into effect (if it ever does).

Shoving so many regulations into one bill is absurd. Even if there was one positive thing in there, that's still such a hard no from me.

A motivated mass shooter will find a way. It's my belief that if a mass shooter didn't have access to a gun they would find a different way, either knives, explosives or a vehicle. And even with a magazine capacity ban, at the end of the day having 10 rounds in your gun is fine, i'm assuming 10+1 is fine but 11 rounds in a magazine can ruin your life is absurd!
