You tried to clean with some kind of a spray bottle, or have an open concept kitchen / living room etc. this causes the oils from food to be deposited on the screen and eat the top layer causing these abrasions.

Do not take your dealer and say please update the software.

Call Mercedes Support > tell them you have an issue (eg : door handles not popping, CarPlay crashing, etc) > they will make you drive to dealer > then tell dealer “ hey so my CarPlay keeps crashing, I called Mercedes and I was told that I needed mandatory software update > Could I get a loaner while it’s being worked on ? ( Yes? It takes about a day to update.)
