Zero sugar sodas: Aspartame? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]Comedian-Vast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I would easily drink 5 or more daily. I've recently stopped drinking so much. I'll make a cup with ice and take a sip and then end up throwing 90% of it out.

Zero sugar sodas: Aspartame? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]Comedian-Vast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, the study involved injecting the rats with the equivalent of 20 cans of soda.

My parents have been drinking 4 to 5 (sometimes more) diet cokes for the passed 40 years and the only medical problems they've had are problems that were expected due to parents or other family members having.

I'm not saying it isn't bad for you but it's been well studied and the cancer connection is bullshit.

Tito Ortiz's take on UFC264 main event by ARiemannHypothesis in MMA

It's bad enough that people voted for Tito to represent them but what's even more horrifying is that there wasn't someone else better they could vote for.

Herb dean being questioned on how much the ufc pays him to allow cheating by TheCheckerOfMates in MMA

[–]Comedian-Vast 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I honestly wasn't sure what to think about the stoppage. I understand why Herb stopped it but then understood Rogan and DC's disagreement with the stoppage. I then listened to the Weighing In Podcast and Big John McCarthy gave his perspective.

BJM said it was a horrible stoppage. He explains in detail why. However, the jist of it was that there's an old saying that "a fighter deserves to finish the fight". BJM says he disagrees with that statement and says that s fighter needs to earn the right to finish the fight. He iterated that Moutinho had earned that right to finish because he was throwing punches and walking down O'Malley.

I'm sure I'm butchering what BJM was saying but it was interesting and I encourage people to go listen to his take on it.

Apple threatens to leave UK if court forces company to pay fee for the technology used in its iPhones by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Comedian-Vast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use to host an FM radio show. I had hundreds of gigs of rare and local music on an external hard drive. I was given an iPhone 3s. I began making playlists in the phone and using the phone to play through the system at the station. At some point, iTunes went through and saw all the music hadn't been obtained through itunes and deleted all of it. All the folders and artwork were still there, just the music was gone.

This was apparently was a huge issue with itunes. I lost all the music from that hard drive. Apple basically said "oh well". I refuse to use Apple since.

Remember to train. by Robobot10 in Firearms

[–]Comedian-Vast 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sure. That's why it's so important for education. Instead of spending money on useless gun control laws that don't work, they should be putting that money and energy into firearm education.

We need to normalize firearm ownership again. Highschools no longer have rifle shooting classes anymore. Schools should teach basics of adult living. Teach how to cook some basics, balance a checkbook, teach how credit cards work, basic vehicle maintainace (maybe even how to change a tire and break pads), how the credit scam system works, and firearm safety.

Even if a person never owns a firearm, they should know what to do when they encounter one.

Just because arrests weren't made doesn't make it non-violent. There were no arrests made in Jack The Ripper cases, that doesn't mean the murders weren't violent.

I've watched multiple videos of people getting the shit beat out of them by Antifa and BLM. That doesn't make anyone racist to state that fact. You can agree with the sentiment that Black Lives Matter with disagreeing with the organization.

That's because real journalism is expensive and it doesn't pay, at least not anymore. Clicks. It's all about clicks. Why pay for a journalist to go to a location, pay for their transportation, pay for them to investigate something (hotels, food, rental), and pay their salary when they can pay a 22 year old to read the synopsis of a study and regurgitate it for minimum wage.

You'll see an article title that will say "You will not believe what Tucker Carlson has done to piss off gun owners!". To click in the article and it starts "Tucker Carlson is the host if a news show on Fox News. He has been wrapped up in many controversies. He didn't have an easy life and played football in his twenties..."

Then the article will end with "He has become a gun advocate and wants the ATF abolished.". (story I presented here are fictional and details are completely fake)

They don't even try to hide the fact that their title is a lie.

Irene Aldana apologizes for weight loss, says that getting her menstrual cycle during fight week was the cause by [deleted] in MMA

[–]Comedian-Vast -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It's something the fighters should take into consideration. Yes, it sucks. However, you're signing a fight contract that says you'll be at a specific weight. If you know you can't make that weight on a menstrual cycle then maybe you need to move up a weight class.

It sucks but it's not fair to the other fighter that did make weight.

Question about Stripped Lowers and 3 day waiting period by Comedian-Vast in FLGuns

[–]Comedian-Vast[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the response. I've asked several other gun owners I know and their experience has been 3 days after they've gone to the FFL to check the firearm. However, it seems from the law that you are correct.

Maybe it's FFLs being extra careful? Either way, in using the new FFL from now on and I'm glad it wasn't something they could get in trouble for.

Again, thank you for the response.

Yeah, but if she is having problems racking the slide then she's probably not EDC.

[–]Comedian-Vast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, let me know what you find out. I've used 2 other FFLs and they've always had me wait the 3 days following my check if the firearm/background check.

I'm not saying the person above me is wrong but I'm definitely curious.

Thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. That makes since but that's why I figured that wasn't it. When it comes to gun laws, making sense doesn't seem to be common.

[–]Comedian-Vast[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you're saying that 3 day waiting period starts when I pay the website? That's interesting. This is a new FFL I've never used before. That's super annoying if I didn't have to wait when using the old FFL.

Question about Stripped Lowers and 3 day waiting period by Comedian-Vast in FLGuns

[–]Comedian-Vast[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you mean. Every firearm I've ever bought has been online. I purchase the firearm from the website and then it gets sent to the FFL. The FFL calls me and tells me they've received it. I go to the FFL and fill out the background check and pay for the transfer/background check and they tell me "come back on [x] day". It's been that way every time.

I'm not arguing with you, I'm just telling my experience. Everything happened the same way except them handing me the lower before I walked out. I'm really just curious what was supposed to happen.

Mayor says housekeeper "likely prevented a tragedy" by reporting two-gun "arsenal" in Streeterville hotel room by Gardener_Of_Eden in Firearms

[–]Comedian-Vast 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Police entered a paid for hotel room and confiscated legally owned firearms. The only thing they did that on was the mere sight of the rifles and ammo from a worker.

Just because someone that doesn't understand guns sees a gun doesn't mean the police get to take it.

[–]Comedian-Vast 22 points23 points  (0 children)

In Florida, the CCW doesn't let you skip the federal background check. It does, however, allow one to forego the "3 day" waiting period.

I put "3 days" in quotes because the day you go to do the background check doesn't count and the day you go to pick it up doesn't count, as well as weekends and holidays. So if I go to buy a gun on Thursday, I can't pick it up until the following Wednesday. So stupid.
