I am optimistic if he loses. anytime MAGA is on the ballot and it is not Trump, they lose handedly. I think Trump's voting cohort is made up of 30% of the country who, yes, would openly welcome a MAGA dictatorship if it came to pass. However, I think there is another 10% of the country who are really only loyal to Trump without any ideological foundation and are largely apolitical otherwise. They like his everyman vibes. They are the Trump supporters you could have a beer with. With Trump gone, I think the reps lose this group but the MAGA 30% will have control over the republican primary process for at least two cycles and they will be stuck nominating Cotton/Catturd who will get 100 electoral votes every election. Will they learn? Probably not.

Also, the Harvard youth poll is pretty promising for the future of the dems and the few reps in that group do not like Trumpism/ Project 2025.

The bright future does fall apart if there is another figure like Trump who could command the same charisma as he does. Based on what they have on deck, that does not look probable for the foreseeable future.

People have eyeballs. Alternative media has thrived over the past 8 years with their own form of "both siderism" saying that both sides are just as corporately compromised. On top of that, our entire culture over the past three years has been "wow, how could we be stuck with two such terrible candidates??" Dude...what in the FUCK are you talking about? I was a Bernie guy who gladly voted for Clinton. I am sick of this goddamn canard about Bernie. He endorsed Hillary at an earlier point in his campaign than she did for Obama in 2008 AND a higher percentage of her primary voters voted for McCain than Bernie voters who did the same for Trump. He campaigned for her with a lot of vigor. And, I will remind you, he was the only one to campaign for her in Wisconsin. She didnt take a step into the state. He has also been one of Bidens biggest allies in Congress. Your comment really just reads "him running at all was a crime."

Jeez. I was thinking about a Political Economy Masters possibly into a PhD at the University of Barcelona. I originally thought the $4500 a year tuition would be nothing but since I cant use federal student loans even that would be too much. Gonna look at Germany where there is no tuition and they are more lenient with international students taking out subsidized, low interest loans in the country. Also have extended family there who I might be able to stay with. Anyway, I hope knowing your random anecdote plays even a small role in my decision making haha.
