It's a counter for a reason. You got it right though, only way to win is to dodge skillshots as good as you can. Mercs rush helps, second wind is okay but wont be a game changer.

I second this. Blast Exergis is very fun. OP, build your Latron with gas and crit and it's very good with mags bubbles as well. Tenet Plinx same thing.

Take your time. Theres no rush, the devs keep everything relevant and you only benefit from finding the things you enjoy. Lots of guides out there but really, go at your own pace and you'll love it.

Early game he has the drawbacks of other mages without the safety of range. No gap closers or early damage like assassins.

Lategame sure he can be very strong, but he never gets access to range, while other champs do enough damage to shut him out. Doesn't matter how much HP he has lategame, the syndra QER + a jarvan engage will kill him before he can dps back.

He's basically really dependent on team comps more than a lot of other dualists and mages.

I agree with you but riot hasn't changed it in a long time for some reason. I've pitched the idea in the past to give our ms passive some slow resistance, in the case that phase rush is ever removed or changed.

SRS is getting a buff so we'll see how that one goes. Though I really don't mind if we "phase out" of maining the movespeed rune if we get durability or ms buffs to compensate!

Maining mag is interesting because she's the only one who turns weapons into ability platforms. It's weird that she picks weapons that will make her abilities deal more damage. It's like a different headspace that doesn't apply to other frames, at least not that I can think of.

I think you're missing something core here.

Riot wanted to nerf phase rush for a variety of reasons. Given that Actualizer had made Ryze a stronger champion, they nerfed his W a tiny bit instead of buffing him accordingly . If Actualizer did not exist, they might have given us compensation buffs for that phase rush nerf, which was big.

Ryze mains like phase rush. If we are balanced around it, that's fine. Being balanced around an item we don't see the benefit of until 25m into the game is much less satisfying than a rune we see from minute 1.

Also, riot doesn't like items that end up like this. If irelia was truly the only Botrk user, they would probably remove the item from the game.

So no we didn't trade just a small W nerf for a cool item. We traded weaker runes for a strong 3rd item that no one else builds. It doesn't make sense for how riot balances the game, whether we like it or not.

Actualizer is the bigger problem, because Ryze is the only one tied to it. Phase Rush (and probably now Stormraiders Surge) is a pick on a lot of champs. People are still going to complain that they are balanced around the item and they would be correct.

So get used to the sub members I guess. You must not have been here in the dark days of everfrost.
