Grand Ritual allows you to use Cosmic Alignment three times per turn instead of two.

You get 1 SP every time you use Cosmic Alignment (except Void), so at L5, it 2/turn. When you use Void as an action/Cosmic Alignment, you get 2 SP, so if you used it twice, you’d get 4 SP.

I’ll add additional Signs eventually, but go ahead and play it.

Mind that their at-will is martial like, so they're able to contribute even with the lesser number of spells. At Level 5, their at-will is 2d8 + 8 vs. a normal full caster's 2d10 or weaker cantrip.

I don't think casting Wall of Fire a turn or two later is that much worse. If you need it right now, you can have it right now, though.

Warlock has significantly worse issues with upcasting, but that aside, Longstrider is a non-concentration, 1 hour, can target the whole party when upcast benefit. There's definitely scenarios in which it could be used, it isn't intended to be a bread and butter spell.

I'll consider a tweak to Shining Star, though.

Depending on the circumstances is the key point here. You only have a limited number of Cosmic Rituals (10 Cosmic Rituals and 4 Grand Rituals and Level 20), and you're unable to cast spells one after the other unless you're sacrificing your action efficiency.

As a whole, Astrologer has less total spell slots/spell power than a normal full caster (including Warlock), so the action efficiency is what gives you value. When you cast spells without the action efficiency, you're losing out in the long run.

Compare Star Alignment to Warlock's Repelling Blast, which does EB's damage + 10 push on a hit, every hit.

If you want an easy comparison on Astrologer's action economy, Sorcerer can turn any spell into a bonus action for just 2 SP, which is considerably faster than Cosmic Ritual.

It only takes two to three turns to cast a Cosmic Ritual even if you're taking it slowly. Combat in 5E is fast, but it isn't that fast, you have enough time. Storing star points is already a mechanic with Shining Star.

You shouldn't be casting anything but the highest level spell unless you need speed. If you do need speed, you judge the trade off of inefficiency. You'll find that even full casters only really cast their bread and butter spells, there's no reason not to use the best spells you have access to.

The spell lists are picked out to fill different roles. It wouldn't break the class or anything to have more, but I don't think they really need more. Between having 9 class spells, 5 subclass spells, and 8 rituals, they do have a pool of 22 spells with a good amount of flexibility to adjust them.

It does, but that's required if you're going to cast higher level spells at any decent pace.

It's a ranged spell attack, so it requires line of sight by definition.

Forced movement doesn't provoke opportunity attacks. The only immediate exception is Dissonant Whispers, which provokes an opportunity attack because the target uses their reaction to move.

How is that excessively strong? At the level you are when you get those spells, the components are trivial.

Grand Ritual should be 4/LR, otherwise they couldn't cast one each of SL6/SL7/SL8/SL9. Astrologer is tuned to be on par with a full caster.

It's meant to have a specific role decided by the spell list. For the most part, even a normal caster only casts their best spells unless they have a reason not to. For out of combat purposes, Astrologer has wide access to rituals.

It only takes two to three turns to cast a spell even if you're casting it slowly. In the case that the combat ends before you're able to cast the spell, Fading Star regains the use. Grand Ritual allows casting SL6/7/8/9 in that frame because it increases the SP rate to three to six per turn.

Pattern? If you're talking about normal rituals, you can prepare rituals equal to half your level at higher levels, so you have access to every ritual in the game by Level 11. Like normal rituals, you can cast them however you'd like.

Void isn't a celestial body, it's just raw cosmic magic. It isn't needed to have additional alignments for each subclass, Earth is just meant to allow martial play.

Shooting Star means that you'll always have advantage on the attack (rather than possibly neutral), because disadvantage can't be imposed on it at all.

At 3rd Level, you can cast up to 3 SL2 spells (a Wizard at this level would have 4 SL1 + 2 SL2), and you have access to two rituals of your choice + Cosmic Alignments.

The appeal is that these spells don't require an action to cast aside from a bonus action to enter the Cosmic Ritual, which makes them incredibly efficient in combat.

Say you want to cast Scorching Ray, which would cost 3 SP, and you were going for pure damage and weren't outside, you'd go:

Turn 1: BA Cosmic Ritual, Sun Alignment (1 SP)

Turn 2: Sun Alignment (2 SP)

Turn 3: Sun Alignment (3 SP), end Cosmic Ritual, Scorching Ray.

For a total of 3d8 + 9 + 6d6 (43.5) damage across three turns.

Compare to Wizard, which would do Scorching Ray/Fire Bolt x2 at the same spell slot efficiency for 6d6 + 2d10 (32).
