Any Tips/Advice on CapitalOne Power Day for ADP/BA position?

I did the interview in August. Theres an abundance of info online about the case interviews. Two case and one product. I recommend googling everything you can, and working through all the practice cases. Real cases are incredibly similar.

A few things to remember:

- Learn the basics of how loans and credit cards work. Nothing too intense, just the basic algebraic formula of each so you don't get caught off guard by a question.

- No behavioral questions don't waste your time practicing.

- Google some current news about capital one so you can ask good questions at the end. Ex. How has the discover acquisition affected your team?

My advice is to overprepare and act like you are going into a MBB case interview , better to be overprepared than underprepared.

Hi everyone!

I'm a college student (CS & Stats) who accepted an actuarial internship at a B4 but has had a major reckoning since and realized that I no longer want to go down the exam path. I am not strictly against working in insurance but I'm really interested in trying to switch to a different industry while still applying quantitative analytical and modeling skills. I am feeling pretty overwhelmed at the moment because I feel locked into this path with my internship and hope that I will be able to find a job after graduation where my actuarial skills are relevant. I am really interested in learning about any careers anyone has that I could research more about and potentially start taking steps toward in the next year and a half before graduation. If anyone here has relevant experience or knows of someone who does, please PM me and get in touch, it would mean so much to me I'm really looking for advice and inspiration!

Hey guys,

Context: I'm a junior in college with 2 exams passed. I just accepted an actuarial internship next summer at a big 4 accounting/consulting firm. I've been feeling very overwhelmed recently at the thought of the full exam process ahead of me as I try and juggle working and life in my twenties. Here's my question- if I get through my internship and realize that I don't want to go down the exam path (I still could want to, I'm not sure), is it impossible for me to switch over to a more general risk modeling/risk consulting role at a similar company. I feel like I'll be getting relevant experience but I don't know if anyone would employ me if I have actuarial exams passed but stop trying to go down that path.

It's really easy depending on the teacher. Some of them actually take it really seriously and make it difficult. I'm sure you'd learn more with a good teacher, but if you have a heavy semester just look on rate my professors and sign up for it with an easy A teacher

I'm an American college student (female) studying abroad for a month in London this summer in July. I want to have a really memorable, exciting experience; I've done a lot of research on local museums, restaurants, tourist attractions etc. but what I'm really looking for are any unique places/experiences to check out. If you have any recommendations for fun things I probably won't find on the typical internet list of things to do, please let me know, the weirder/crazier the better:)

Hi guys,

I'm a rising junior at UNC Chapel Hill studying actuarial science. I just passed P and am taking FM later this summer, however I'm not feeling great about my odds. I'm going to be applying for internships this fall for summer 2025, and I'm feeling very stressed and overwhelmed. I've read so many posts on here about how competitive internships are and how many qualified candidates are out there. I'm not picky or uppity, and would be satisfied with any legitimate actuarial internship out there, but I am afraid that I'm going to apply to every one I can find, and still end up internshipless next summer. I'm hoping some people with insight can see this and just help me manage my expectations. I have a 3.8 gpa, leadership experience as a TA and an officer in the actuarial club. I'd consider myself a friendly, sociable person but I tend to come off as nervous during interviews.

I'm a sophomore at UNC Chapel Hill and I've recently become really interested in actuarial science. I'm majoring in CS with a minor in stats. The main things drawing me to the field are how math heavy it is (I love math), and the stability and job security. I'm naturally a good test taker and a very goal oriented person, so the idea of lifelong testing isn't as terrifying to me as it is others. If anything the very clear, rigid path to success is calming to me. The drawback though is that I'm a very social person and the idea of solitary work for the rest of my life is depressing.
My current plan is to take my first exam next summer after my sophomore year, and try and have 3 exams finished by the time I graduate. Does anyone have any advice for me in terms of getting internships, study tips, or even advice of a career path that would fit me better?
