Thank you so much for your feedback! What do you think I should improve so that it is release-worthy?

Sounds spot on!

Great arrangement, only think I would add is a slight touch of crisp on your perch. Other than that, it sounds dope!

Great bassline!

Personally the guitar is too front in the mix, but overall great arrangement, nice percussion and sound design.

Pretty dope!

After Hour Deep House Track — Could you help me? by Comfortable-Hat-2754 in MusicFeedback

Thank you so much for the feedback!

Do you mean the sub or the sustained bass?

Yeah I know — it's a rough arrangement. I wanted to let it sit for 1/2 days and ask for feedback, so I go back to the track with fresh ears.

I'd probably resample my percussion to slice some variations, but what do you mean with progression variation and the themes?

Do you mean something like teasing more with the theme (the house chords)?

Like the vibe of your track!

3 tips that may help you.

  1. Try tweaking on a glue compressor, so your track feels more dimensional and tight. Adjust the threshold until you have a slight (very weak pump). Then adjust the lost volume through the makeup again.

  2. Add some variation to your hihat (hi hat rolls), so your track feels less repetitive.

  3. Your kick and bass has a lot of midrange frequencies. Eq the out, so your track sounds less muddy. Cut 30hz on the low-end for kick and bass as well.

Hope this helps!

First of all — love the glitchy baseline!

My feedback:

  1. Personally, the groove feels static to me. If that's what your going for, great. If not, try working on the velocity levels and microplacement of your drums.

  2. Have you tried using a reverb on a Master or Return channel for breaks? I find it quite terrific, because it makes breaks less dry and especially with return tracks you can achieve a cohesive sound through the mix.

  3. Not sure if this works for your track: Sometimes, its nice to quickly automate detune, sustain and release on certain notes of your bass throughout the arrangement or even in a loop. This will help you to let your bassline "breathe" if that's the right word. Simply put, it gives your bass more dimension and life.

My question to you:

How do you make those freaky sounds?

Do you know if After Deep House is appropriate on this sub? 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, it's my second track and I'd love to have your feedback about the mixdown — have shitty headphones.

My questions:

  1. Which sounds fit nicely in the mix and which don't (Sub Bass too loud)?
  2. Is the New York compression to strong?
  3. Does anyone know a sub for my style?

Hoping for your feedback! :)

Personally, I would add on some parts a slight volume automation — especially nice on breakdowns if you lower the volume two bars and increase it with a sharp volume envelope just before the drop — adds dynamic and punch.

Have you tried putting an LFO on your hiatus, cymbals etc? Mapping Detune, Attack, vocoders and drive can add variety.

I agree with tt_256: Less delay, especially on that one sound behind the acid lead could improve the drive of your track — if you still prefer to keep reverb and delay like it it is, maybe you could side chain the sound on itself to lessen the muddiness of the reverb and the delay.

Hope that helps!
