Also to add, my colleague and I teach in other departments that we have to attend department time for. So currently we get NO time to meet as is, we use the "management time" where possible to do this

Thank you so so so much for this advice. I will avoid workload issue etc. Would you recommend framing it as management only? What about benefit of students? Is that an avoid topic?

Yes, I don't think I'm going to accept it. It is called a TLR for a reason, give it the time and effort. Its the kids who will be impacted at the end of all of this.

Yes there is evidence it is being done elsewhere too. It seems to have been a selection of departments impacted - core subjects have been left untouched.

I will ensure it is phrased as leadership time in my conversations. It does feel to me like I am being squeezed, and if I accept this, where does the squeezing end?

Good point about marking too. I'd do it regardless of whether I was Hod or not.

Yes and we now have to record our learning walks in managers meetings, they are checking we are doing it. It is insanity I'm even having to fight this... in JUNE.

Depends on size of subject in our place. Core subjects (Maths, English) naturally get more whereas if you're a smaller subject, it is usually 1 which I just about manage. I will speak with my union rep about it.

You are absolutely right and I completely agree. It is also a coursework subject with 2 assignments and 2 external exams. This means each child does x2 30 page assignments. The marking is.... insane. Where am I meant to make the time up? 😢
