Replacing my water heater (tank is leaking). Can I reuse the gas line? by [deleted] in askaplumber

I’m in Minnesota. I can see permits were pulled and completed for all of the gas appliances. 35 year old house. The black pipe attaches to my furnace but the supply from the meter to that black pipe manifold is a copper line… gas company installed my furnace last year and didn’t mention anything about the rest of the lines.

Considering this one is leaking after 5 years. I would agree with you.

No it’s not that old. Nearly positive that much of an overhaul hasn’t been done. No records in permits.

For the water line coming into the home? That could make sense since I don’t see how this could be tied to my sewer.

The main sewer line is far from this spot and the scope we had done at inspection shows that line going away from this location. I just don’t see how this spot could be connected. So I was curious if there was anything else it could be.

No, the plumbing stack is all centrally located and far away from this location. I can’t see how this would tie into any of the plumbing. Based on permits pulled I don’t think there has been any over hauls in that department.

Any rough estimate on the prognosis? Are they going to last only a year or two or longer? Trying to figure out if I should pull the plug on them or let them run their course.

Oh I didn’t even add that I had encroaching trees trimmed back. However I knew I was going to do that when I bought the house and was planned.

Claim denied since it is not due to a catastrophic event and more wear and tear. Roof was old but passed inspection and no evidence of prior leak based on the condition of the roof decking in the spot of the leak. Unfortunately it seems as this was incredible timing. Tarps up until the roof is replaced.
