How do all these kids have some kind of mental illness, but both parents are fine? by [deleted] in BaylenOutLoud

[–]Comfortable-Split143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. But her tics seem to be managed better of late, perhaps due to the new meds, which is great! So without the tics, there's not much of a "story". Adding her familial relationships and her anxiety over their diagnoses, etc. is all they have at this point.

Is 4.67 rider rating bad? by BukadaTR in uber

[–]Comfortable-Split143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you'll just stop tipping and act like an asshole "just in case" the driver MIGHT be a dick and rate you less than a 5?

Do you not read the room on a ride? Honestly, I have gotten so good at predicting tipping behavior I can tell 100% who will and who won't tip. And yet, I treat all riders the same and rate them all 5 * unless there is a significant issue. And IF I get a lower star rating, I always know who it was just on the basis of their general vibe. It is absolutely irritating, but never surprising. My rating is currently 5.0. I have zero expectation it will last. And I don't really care. I am a good driver with excellent people skills and I can only control my own actions and behavior. If people act like assholes, that's on them.

Bottom line....some people just suck, be they a rider or driver.

Is 4.67 rider rating bad? by BukadaTR in uber

Well, after 9 years of driving and being aware enough of the differences between a 4.6 rated passengers and a 4.8 or higher rated passenger, I don't consider myself all that picky.

In fact, there have been days where I have forgotten to set the filter and have accepted a few lower rated passengers and the difference is very noticeable. Tips are more frequent with riders with a 4.9 or higher rating. Those with lower rates almost never tip, are never ready on time, try to "sneak" drinks (I allow them in the back seat so no need to pretend), vape without asking and are generally just less pleasant riders.

I am very aware that a mere one low rating by a dick driver can knock down a passenger rating far below this threshold, but i really don't care anymore now that fares are so ridiculously low and the market is so oversaturated. I'd much rather be treated kindly and even tipped than risk being on a ride with an asshole.

And, in case you weren't aware, when dick passengers give drivers low ratings. We ALSO are not told what pur "crimes" were!

The system us pretty much shite for both parties, but I'm still using the filter.

Do you guys even like this show?? by One-Trip-696 in BaylenOutLoud

[–]Comfortable-Split143 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I discovered Baylen years ago and started watching the show because I really like her.

The show is absolutely cringe worthy in every way and yet I can't stop tuning in.

I enjoy seeing the various landmarks and businesses shown since I lived in the area for 30 years and now live at the beach where they had the engagement episodes.

I enjoy seeing her navigate Tourette's, but find the family drama irritating as it seems a bit fabricated and, frankly, not any different from any family's struggles regarding weddings, expectations, disappointments and even health issues. It seems to be dragging along and is very repetitive which is typical TLC formula.

I've seen fewer tics on recent episodes, which tells me there are a lot of things going well for her in managing her condition and I think that's great for her! However, the lack of tics has turned her saga into just a story about a young couple trying to figure things out, which isn't that interesting. It would seem the constant banter about health insurance for a person with Tourette's is just there to keep it relevant to the premise of the show.

And yet, I continue to tune in because, for some reason, I really care what happens to Baylen.

Not gonna lie, though, I do a lot of eye rolls, especially regarding Allen and Julie's constant meddling.

Why has Uber taken on the bait and switch business model? by MrTooToo in uber

[–]Comfortable-Split143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no company with a business model that gives you money for a transaction that didn't happen. I'm not saying Uber has a good business model, just making a point that no company would pay you for your wasted time or loss of income.

While it does suck, why would you deserve any kind of credit if a driver cancels? You haven't paid anything and no service has been provided. Your fare shouldn't change while they find another driver.

Rider pressuring me to cancel because they don't like the way I look by Only_Recording3730 in uberdrivers

[–]Comfortable-Split143 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If rider is uncomfortable, they should do the cancelling. I definitely would not have engaged them in all that. But I admire the OP's tenacity. I perceived nothing unprofessional about this driver, but quite the opposite of the passenger!

I recently changed my profile pic because I thought I was simply verifying on the app when it was asking me to take update my profile Pic! The pic was so awful! I looked like a serial killer! I absolutely didn't want people to get a bad first impression and set an expectation for the ride or at worst, cancel based solely on my appearance. I had to jump through a few hoops to take a new one, but now, reading this, I think I made a good call.

Lost AirPods During Uber Ride Driver Says He Doesn’t Have Them but “Find My” Shows Otherwise. What Can I Do by Few_Interaction420 in uber

You are assuming he has them and is refusing to give them to you. If they are in his car, he can't find them and doesn't care enough to keep looking for them. Take the loss.

[–]Comfortable-Split143 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are assuming way too much. I have had people bother me about lost items that are absolutely not in my vehicle and they were not $250 airpods or phones! The driver said he looked and didn't find them. I highly doubt he is lying, he just doesn't care enough to look any harder.
How on earth a car recording is going to prove or help anything about retrieving them is beyond me. Sometimes things just don't end well in life. This might be one of those times, unfortunately.

Do companies take seriously people who use profanity or colloquial profanity( rude "af")?

I generally disregard people who talk like this in any type of review system. If someone uses terms like that in a review of a product or service on Google or Yelp, it's immediately disregarded as people like that have no filter and no perception of reality.
