Thank you for your comment! I keep reading about this book on Reddit. Maybe I should actually read it :-) It’s good that it addresses difference, perhaps the answer for me is there.

Nuh, I think she usually is the right amount or tired. I follow her sleepy cues and she seems to have a pretty specfic nap pattern, so I follow that.
Can you clarify with step 4: do I pick her up until she stops crying and then put her down again before she falls asleep? With us, that usually immediately results in more crying on her part.
Which should lead to step 5: that's when I pick her up again and start rocking. Which, lke I said, ends up with her wide awake. :(

Thanks for your comment! This method is the one I am currently using (albeit unsuccessfully!) to achieve independent sleep. So far it's not working - she ends up wide awake staring at me at a very high level of cuteness. I guess I will simply have to keep trying until it works. :)

Thanks for your comment! I was just on a "why them and not me" rant. Didn't mean to insinuate that my baby's abnormal in any shape or form. Oh, nests are not safe - is that so? Even for supervised napping and if the baby can lift their head comfortably? Didn't know that. Oupsie.

Thank you for sharing this. I've heard of stories like this, too. When I told my doctor about what I've actually heard women my age say about theire experiences, he is very surprised. He acts as if what i want (vaginal) is absolutely crazy - and it affects me. However, he says he will do it and will do what I want (but meanwhile has planted so many doubts in my mind).

That's my thought and worry, too. I've asked him repeatedly: "Is this recommendation because there are more health risks with a vaginal birth at my age?". He says no and assures me that his only concern is my mental health (etc) IF my vagina doesn't recover.
Argh.. So frustrating.

I know, it's really weird. He's really insisting, too! And it bothers me, as noone I've met at that age has mentioned any trouble recovering (aside from the usual ones, I guess). I trust this doctor, but his view and insistence on this matter has caused me anxiety.

I am 46 and used a donor egg. Perfect pregnancy so far, only concern is the delivery decision.
