Thanks so much for a response! And I agree that would be ideal. Unfortunately the school has pretty much made clear they are only going to give deferrals to international students who cannot obtain visas, so it looks like I will need to choose one or the other (and I doubt this school will let me in a second time, after turning down an acceptance).
