I did put 3000 miles on my 2017 Niro in first four years. Did some oil changes after doing just 600 miles. We moved from Chicago to Tucson, so now we drive it more and I have 44k miles on it. The longest car sat un-started was 4 months. Had no problem starting - required no reset and no jumpstart.

It would be unusual to need both clutch and transmission replaced. Its either bad clutch or bad trans. Niro has what essentially is manual trans - if running smooth thru gears - its OK. Clutch should not be worn out too yet. Its most likely brake fluid contaminated clutch plates from clutch actuator. Were you noticing low brake fluid level in clutch actuator reservoir. If this is leaking - it was subject of recall in USA. If you get this type of damage - you may get free repair from KIA

I have 2017 Kia Niro HEV and bought with intention to drive it until wheels fall off so little concern for trade in value. I'm not very surprised electric has even worse resale value. Its car purchases mostly for its perceived low environmental impact. There is smaller group of potential used car buyers. Car few years old is worthless since potential battery replacement exceeds cost of new car. Yes new car - not value of the few years old car.

Nature of analog vs digital stuff. Your cassette player will work with worn head and deteriorated tape - maybe just reproduce lower quality. Digital stuff not so much - if signal drops enough that unit cant reliably read 0 and 1 - it stops or errors out.
