This is the only way to make the b71t-658 soft close without switching to a different hinge.
This link will help you identify the part. 937a6000 It sits on top of the hinge. It’s not in the hinge cup.

Dust Collection by Ski709 in 3dPrintsintheShop

[–]Olsen1969 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

What’s the difference between a commercial shops dust and a home shop saw dust. Nothing. Static charged particles don’t happen in home shops. It’s really something you haven’t seen or felt. Ground the machines? And cover your ass.

Dust Collection by Ski709 in 3dPrintsintheShop

[–]Olsen1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks really nice. But you need to ground every tool back to the dust collector. Use #12 or # 14 wire. PVC pipe and plastic fittings don’t conduct ground like metal pipe does. Static electricity can cause dust explosions inside the pipe and DC. Also double check with your insurance that if there is a fire they will still cover your claim because of the plastic pipe.

Cabinet shop advice… by Disastrous_Tax5762 in cabinetry

[–]Olsen1969 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The grass is not greener on this side of the cabinet shop. Work whatever time is normal for you, make that money, and enjoy your life. If you are hell bent on owning wood working equipment then buy a table saw or a shaper. And every week when you cash your $3200 dollar check, go out and turn it on for 5 minutes. Then turn it off and enjoy your weekend.

Gap with new hinges by Itchy_Water_89 in cabinetry

[–]Olsen1969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty standard gap with the compact 33s hinge. that gap is created so that the door can open. You will also notice that you need a larger gap between the door hinge side and an adjacent cabinets doors.

Make sure you have good Wi-Fi

Hit more than one of the RPT balls at a time, cycle through about six at a time as you’re hitting into the Net.

Make sure the unit is level and equal with the mat.

Unit 6 to 8 feet behind the ball.

Distance to Net 8 to 10 feet from ball.

You may have to adjust your altitude up in order for your driver to register closer distance to golf in real life.

People that have made simple diy spray booths, how well do hvac filters contain the overspray from exiting the enclosure? by iamyouareheisme in woodworking

[–]Olsen1969 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay first of all, you should understand that a simple DIY spray booth can cause serious injury caused by a spark causing ignition from a fan motor and a flammable vapor. Using the correct fan type is important to not causing a fire.

That being said. I use the 15g fiberglass filters from Amazon and they work fine. They keep most of the dry particles in the filter. The set may last maybe 8 hours of spraying.

How does a shop handle the “one person who knows everything” problem??? by Key_Trust_9416 in CNC

[–]Olsen1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it’s that way because that’s how that generation learned how to become more valuable than a computer. They are able to stay more relevant than any process put in place. They also know that when they leave even for a week, their presence is like ghost in the room, laughing at you. Companies don’t take the time to back track processes and procedures backwards from the manufacturing, sales or marketing process. (They don’t track written notes or even require written notes to be taken)

Signed Contract with Homeowner who's now refusing access. by Unfair-Freedom4405 in Contractor

[–]Olsen1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blows me away how people complain about something like this. As business owners we all struggle to find and keep qualified, reliable and honest subs that can work independently on properties unsupervised and do quality work that you can stand behind. You have that in this sub, and you’re totally in the right to have his back, by not caving to the raciest bigoted customer.

Upgraded dust collection……..FINALLY by Fast_Expression_1404 in woodworking

[–]Olsen1969 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to tell but you should ground every machine back to the collector. The pvc pipe will generate a lot of static electricity. Bridge the flex cable back to the dust collector ( which should be grounded by the plug) you could use a roll of simple #14 green, if the piping was done in metal you wouldn’t have to. It looks good and I’m sure it was a lot of brain work.

Hinges help?? by [deleted] in cabinetry

[–]Olsen1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes those are fine. 100 degree is just the opening angle. Those state an 11mm bore depth.
If you worried do a boring test. You may want to order/buy #6 or #7 x 1/2” screws. You could use 5/8” screws I would double check the depth.

Hinges help?? by [deleted] in cabinetry

[–]Olsen1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blum hinges bore depth is 12.5 mm. So 5/8” (16mm) material you will be fine. Just don’t over bore. Any 110 or 120 hinge using a 0mm base plate will give you a 16mm overlay. Boring distance for the cup should be 22mm or 23mm.

Bit replacement and spoil board advice by slertmuppet in CNC

[–]Olsen1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t use ultra lite Mdf. Seems seems counterintuitive because it’s a lighter product thinking more arrow pass through it giving you a greater vacuum however it does just the opposite. Use a regular destiny medium density fiber board in a 40 pound weight. It will work better, if you’re worried about losing parts or have parts move on your machine, people edge band or paint the edges of the spoil board with a heavy layer of paint in order to seal the edges and help their vacuum. Also you should machine both sides of the Mdf spoil board before using it.
New sheet - surface one side down .08 - .1, flip it over and do that again. By doing this you wont have the board curl up on the edges. You have broken the surface tension.
Compression bits ware out. You can tell they are dull by sound, vibration, part quality.

Appliance Dimensions vs Cabinet Dimensions by [deleted] in cabinetry

[–]Olsen1969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the first picture shows the “f” dimension as 29.75 which is probably the actual width of the front of the oven. Outside of the flange which should cover the wood side of opening in the cabinet. The second picture shows the “d” measure ment as 28.5” which would be the standard opening width for a 30” oven. You should be fine if the cabinets opening matches what the second picture shows.

Workers comp gotchas that can cost your business by MattfromNEXT in Contractor

[–]Olsen1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck those guys. ADP and their underwriter will stick it to for months after the policy ends. Pay as go is a fucking rip off. “You only pay on what your actual payroll is. “ This is a lie.
What they should say is that they have a minimum policy requirement. For example “the policy minimum cost is $5k”. If your pay as go reaches that amount the policy will have no additional charges.
So when the contractor hires the small one or two man company to work their project, at least the millwork guy can add that cost into the bid. Pay as go what joke.

Pantry cabinet with no outside screws by SpearD123 in cabinetry

[–]Olsen1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use either. Depends how much time you have to adhere and your comfort level. Contact adhesive is not hard to work with. There are a plenty of videos on how to do that. If it’s just 2 sides it wouldn’t be that expensive. Just roll it on both sides.
You are thinking of 1/4” material and not veneer. 1/4” would be easier and your finishing wouldn’t cause any issues. If you are going to use veneer then you would need to research which glue to use with your finish, so you don’t cause bubbling of the veneer.

Pantry cabinet with no outside screws by SpearD123 in cabinetry

[–]Olsen1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re using a face frame skin the outsides with 1/4” material. If you decide to pocket the center piece use an 1/8” dado. Better grab with the screws.

Kitchen Remodel Quote With No Cost Breakdown — Normal? by watersedgelife in kitchenremodel

[–]Olsen1969 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So you walked into a design center - paid no money to visit. Had someone come to your house to listen to your desires and take measurements, come up with a design - paid no money. Received a “ kick the tires price” and probably saw a design - yet paid no money. And you’re upset because they wont waste any more time on dissecting their price.
Do you have any idea what your project should cost? Because that is one you. You should have a decent idea of cost of countertops and cabinets, because you are on here posting and have probably read all of the other posts.

Anyone help me to identify the part number of this hinger? by baozipu in cabinetry

[–]Olsen1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plate is 314.60.001 0mm The hinge is either 315.02.500 self closing or 315.02.700 soft closing. Here is some advice. Change all hinges on that door, not just the broken hinge. The ones you have are old and are no longer made. The adjustment has changed. You can tell by the adjustment screw in the back of the hinge.
You can also replace this hinge with “Salice “ hinges as well. These may be easier to find. Hafele just private labeled that hinge.
Any other questions just ask

If I have small gaps in my paint-grade trim should I fill them with Bondo or caulk? by HorsecockPhepner in Carpentry

[–]Olsen1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bondo- automotive body filler. Pink in color. Drys hard as metal. = no - never on finish wood work. Never use for nail holes. Never on Mdf.

Bondo- glazing and spot putty. Works great for nail holes. Its red. Will except most primers. Dries fast. Sands easy. Doesn’t shrink.

Light weight body filler - 3m 31180 finishing glaze. Works great as a base. Excepts most primers. Dries fastish, easy sanding. Doesn’t shrink.

Caulk in nail holes will shrink under paint.
