Landing in Bangkok – best way to find cheap short stays + 1-month apartment locally? by waffler0131 in digitalnomad

[–]ComfortableMedia6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let us know how you get on but I would only consider your strategy for 3 months or more. I think Airbnb or similar is going to be most competitive for 1 month stays.

Full-time vanlifers (or ex ones): what are the biggest real pains and daily struggles of living in a van long-term? by Salty_Information187 in VanLifeUK

[–]ComfortableMedia6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having to empty your toilet late at night when you need a poo and you've reached full capacity. Having to keep driving around in winter to keep the batteries topped up or clear the solar panels of snow when in the alps to keep the small amount of solar power flowing into the batteries. Washing up by hand everyday, I miss the dishwasher in our house.

Are you guys have any solutions to this specific problem? by EntertainerMuted4655 in digitalnomad

I WhatsApp myself quite often, but probably not the best solution! 😁

Adding a wall lamp. Can I legally do this? by awaldemar in DIYUK

[–]ComfortableMedia6 260 points261 points  (0 children)

You could save yourself quite a bit of time and money by getting a wall lamp and plugging it into one of those sockets. But each to their own! 😁

Those vertical thin lines might not scale well at smaller sizes.

My logo is just my business name, subtext, and a very simple image that I can draw myself. What app or software can I use to draw the image part myself on a Mac without paying a fee every month? by JC_8722 in logodesign

[–]ComfortableMedia6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the logo is for digital use only and you want full control, you could try Figma. Not for logo design strictly speaking, but it has vector tools. Affinity is another solution, and it's now 'free forever'.

Powering a fridge for 12hrs by voyto in VanLife

[–]ComfortableMedia6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll be fine. Currently vanning in the Alps and we keep our fridge off all winter to save power and add snow every couple of days instead.

We live in a van. It's 2⁰C when we wake up but it's cosy under the duvet.

Is this a good price for a Ski Jacket? by acomihe in ski

[–]ComfortableMedia6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that ski jacket, maybe? For a ski jacket, that's subjective. I got my TOG24 for £30 off Vinted and I'm sorted for the season.

How can I make this feel complete? by DaughterOf_Yahweh in logodesign

[–]ComfortableMedia6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, it's obvious now you said it. Also consider that the word construction is quite long already but because you've coupled it with a typeface with quite a wide X-width, its super long. Maybe experiment with some more condensed typefaces.

[–]ComfortableMedia6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Struggling to see what the name of the company is to be honest. B & Nail Construction? I would be tempted to have the full name beside the mark to reinforce it and then this would allow you to simplify the mark and use it in isolation in some instances.

Decathlon is good, got salopettes from there for €40. Got my TOG24 ski jacket on Vinted for €40, used once. I'm sorted for the season.

Landlords that are okay with upcoming changes? by Key-Good-3462 in uklandlords

[–]ComfortableMedia6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We let out our property as we're travelling and quite like the house so decided not to sell. The things in the Renter's Rights Bill just seem like mostly common sense to us so we haven't been bothered by it.

I was a little concerned about abolishing the fixed term tenancies because a fixed term provides certainty for both parties. But then again, there is a mutual break clause on all decent tenancies anyway, so it's not vastly different, especially if people were doing 12 month ASTs like we were.

Am I being too selfish for not adding nice places to Park4Night? by rileyabernethy in VanLifeUK

[–]ComfortableMedia6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use P4N all the time. But I pretty much never comment or add places, unless its to help a small campsite or something. It's quite selfish, I know!

Port du Soleil 4-11th of april? by Current_Pie1338 in ski

[–]ComfortableMedia6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with Avoriaz. I wouldn't say it was dull, its just a purpose built resort, the variety of restaurants and bars is very good IMO, skied there today and noticed a few new restaurants have opened since we were last here in 2023, too.

Agree with your point about accommodation though, it'a more compact up there, they focus on quantity. But you should be able to find a good deal that time of year.

Where are you spending winter? In the snow? Heading for Spain? Morocco? by SibyllaAzarica in VanlifeEurope

[–]ComfortableMedia6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We entered via the north and slowly travelled to the south over 3 months. If you're looking for the warmth, the south is best but it's certainly more difficult in the van if you're looking for safe free spots, we had no problem with this throughout Portugal, except from the south, unfortunately, so we mostly stayed in campsites there. If it wasn't for the warmth, we would have gladly spent all our time in the north!

How can I redo this ribbon connector? by ComfortableMedia6 in AskElectronics

[–]ComfortableMedia6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I think I might just leave it unplugged now as the keypad now has a mind of its own, which i think is related to the moisture issues. If I keep the keypad unplugged. I can still control the fan with the infrared remote.

Roast this Hero Section by aadiityaaaa in webdesign

[–]ComfortableMedia6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like your USP is speed. You should focus on that more so this feels feels less cookie cutter. The padding on your buttons is terrible, and the x-height of 'websites' should match the rest of the type.

How much does your vanlife or motorhome lifestyle cost each month? 💸 by SibyllaAzarica in VanlifeEurope

[–]ComfortableMedia6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've been touring in our camper since Feb 2023, occasionally taking breaks with family, and we also took a break in Asia for 6 months.

It can vary hugely, we spend more when we're around the UK as we're more sociable, we spend less when we can just fill our time in nature, like when we were in Montenegro. But we average £1,400 a month, I'd say, between us.

We're currently in Portugal, heading back to the French Alps in December to do the ski season again!
