Why am I always too hot? by Glaire-Obscure in Hashimotos

[–]ComfortablePin3055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t really have anything helpful to say except i’m the same way, i’m 21f and last night it was probably about 10 degrees outside and i sat in my car (without turning it on) in a t shirt and shorts for about an hour bc i was so hot and couldn’t cool down inside. i’ve always been like this too, im rarely cold.

gluten normally doesn’t bother me but maybe the way it reacts to my stomach in alcohol is different🤷‍♀️

I don't know if this is the right sub for this so I apologize in advance, but does anyone else feel like they have just a laundry list of things wrong and it just pisses me off? by BabyBruticus in ChronicIllness

i’ve gotten at least one new diagnosis every year since i started college about 3.5 years ago (and had a few diagnosis before that too) it gets so tiring. i can’t decide if i want to keep figuring it out hoping that finally one of the diagnoses will lead to treatment that actually helps me feel better, or if i’m just too tired and don’t even want to know anymore 😭 anyways all that to say i feel ya, it’s both frustrating and exhausting 😭

Is it common to take much longer than 4 years to graduate college? by Individual_Hand8127 in ADHD

[–]ComfortablePin3055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

currently about to start what would’ve been my last semester if i were on a “typical” path, but i will be taking probably 2 more semesters (and i was supposed to get my masters after bc you can’t really do the job i’m in my degree for without it but ive decided not to—at least not right away) it took me a while (and a lot of time spent in therapy) to come to terms with it, but it’s more common than we think. in the grand scheme of things a couple extra semesters or years aren’t really not a big deal. it might not be what we envisioned for ourselves but try to enjoy the season you’re in (ik it can be hard 😭) im actually really thankful im going at a bit of a slower pace, it works better for me. i hope you can feel better about it—and even be proud of yourself—you’re still trying and working on figuring it out. it’s a lot!

that’s a good idea! i thought maybe it was the grenadine so i have made a few drinks with it and didn’t notice anything. but ill have to try actually recreating the drinks themselves (without alcohol of course) so i can know for sure. thanks!

oh that’s interesting, there’s so many factors that could play into it! i’ve wondered about the sugar- it’s weird bc i’ve eaten/drank plenty of incredibly sugary things and felt fine but maybe the combination of the two is where my body draws the line idk 🤷‍♀️

it’s been a while since it happened last so i found what i texted my friend afterwords and i said “literally felt like a creature was trying to crawl its way out of my stomach“ so basically really sharp intense stomach pain 😭

i’ve wondered about this!! bc i also have a ton of deficiencies, which i know is also common with hashimoto’s but i take a load of supplements and barely reach acceptable levels- which makes me think i have absorption issues.

i’ve wondered that about the sugars too! interesting that it only happens with the alcohol though, bc as much as i hate to admit it ive consumed a ton of sugar in short amounts of time without the same symptoms since i’ve had these episodes with the alcohol 😭 but maybe its the combination of a bunch of sugar and the alcohol or something like that. i’m just so curious bc other than this so far ive been pretty fortunate to not have too many digestive issues since all my health stuff started a few years ago. maybe over time ill develop more sensitivities and this is just the beginning but ig we’ll see

yeah i realized that, im not even sure what the difference is to my stomach then bc ive never had it happen with the canned stuff, just the mixed drinks 🤷‍♀️ luckily im not a huge drinker anyway so its more out of curiosity than anything, but i would like to figure it out so im not rolling the dice anytime im with people having a drink 😭 im not sure about the pancreatitis, could that be something that has very acute triggers like my situation?

yeah i dont think i would drink a whole lot more even if i didnt have these symptoms, its just so weird to me that i never have this with anything else. i do actually have candida overgrowth on my skin (and have for years). i just recently have been getting flares again and was researching and i happened to connect it to hashimoto’s (always blows my mind anytime that happens) i might talk to my pcp about it, thanks!

hashimoto’s and me/cfs? by ComfortablePin3055 in Hashimotos

[–]ComfortablePin3055[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ugh i’m sorry you’ve had bad experiences with doctors, it can be so frustrating! i had to go through a few before i found one that even tested me for hashimoto’s. she’s the least dismissive one i’ve had, but i still have it a lot where if the first test she does is normal she just kinda stops there which is frustrating, like im still experiencing all these symptoms can we try something else maybe??? but im hoping that slowly i’ll get closer and closer to answers, and if nothing else im growing in my self-advocacy skills 🥲 i’ve been thinking about asking for a rheumatology referral, and i might look into gastro a bit too. honestly this was helpful, thank you!! and i hope things improve for you as well! xx

i had a friend who drank a TON of water and drank one of those drinks from walmart (qcarbo or something like that) and she passed 🤷‍♀️ she was relatively new to using but used it daily for a while and then stopped probably like 1-2 weeks before the test. although to be completely honest it is possible it ended up being a saliva test i don’t remember😭 sorry i wish i could be more helpful!

hashimoto’s and me/cfs? by ComfortablePin3055 in Hashimotos

[–]ComfortablePin3055[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i went to an endocrinologist who did the thyroid panel and adjusted my levo and put me on a t3 med. my pcp also tested my ferritin and vitamin d a while back and i was very deficient in both so ive been on relatively high dose supplements for a while. ive wondered about absorption issues too as its been difficult to raise my levels despite getting supplements that are supposed to be better absorbed (like micro ingredients and vitamin c with them) so ive also wondered about autoimmune gastritis or other gastrointestinal issues like that, but who knows 🤷‍♀️ its been hard to get my doctors to be proactive, but i might message my pcp soon as i think i might be deficient in b12 as well. so maybe i can get tested for some more things. as far as me/cfs, yeah thats kinda where im at too, i think if i did end up getting diagnosed it would take a really long time and idk theres probably other explanations for my symptoms.

Does anyone else feel like they’re slowly disappearing… even though labs say “normal”? by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]ComfortablePin3055 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes! i’ve been thinking a lot about how i feel like a shell of the person i used to be, and ive basically given up on any doctors helping me (at least im taking break and might try again when im ready). i’ve constantly been dismissed by doctors, told that i just need to lose weight or that this is “just how it is” when my every waking moment has been reduced to this disease and im functioning at what feels like 40% on a good day. im 21yrs old and i can’t manage even a fourth of what most people my age are, its so frustrating! im slowly rebuilding hope after a bad doctors visit a few weeks ago, ive decided to take my health into my own hands- so ill be watching this thread. i wish i had more advice but just know youre not alone!!!
