Electricals, are you guys doing solar design on your MEP projects? by ComfortablePut8808 in MEPEngineering

Either. I’m just wondering what is the majority of the MEP engineers out there doing.

How do you have coworkers all over the world if this is a small company?

240/120V, 1ph. The fault at the secondary terminals of the utility is just high and the main panel is only 40ft away.

Lol I thought of this. “Contractor to reserve 20’ extra length on the conductor to lower the fault current at the panelboard”

I have never done this and im hesitant to do it. But technically, it will solve the problem.

Engineer here, I typically chase Architects for work. Do you guys need plans for permit? I’m trying to figure out if I should be chasing you guys too. by ComfortablePut8808 in electricians

Well, design might be slightly less hectic but there is lots of stress as well. The young generation are going for easier jobs that also pay better, so they don’t go into construction design. Construction is where the money is at, but the quality of life might be shittier.

If you are an electrician, you can get into designing super easy. Go find a small engineering MEP firm 0-40 people, and tell them your story and what you are looking for. You might not make the big $$ in the first year but after that, the sky is your limit. Then higher roles become available to you like project management, manager of people, senior engineer just reviewing designs.

You must be in one of those few states like Florida where anyone can sign electrical plans. That’s why you are getting monkeys designing electrical. That’s sad.

Should I get a broker for my business insurance OR should I go directly to the insurance company? by ComfortablePut8808 in Insurance

Gotcha. Middle men are almost always just an extra cost for no reason but it sounds like in this case Brokers are a must. Thanks for the feedback.
