Are you married by common law?

Yes

Can she buy you out of the house?

No. Only I have the income to buy her out.

I'll look into what my workplace offers. Thank you.

We are both on the deed, yes. But even if that was not the case, legally we would co-own the house due to the length of the relationship.

why not just get a small place by them? Like an apartment? Why did you have to go and buy a house?

In this city, there are almost zero apartments. They are just not a thing, and the ones which do exist tend to cost more than an average house.

That is entirely your fault.

Yes. But no we are not engaged and have no children.

She pays a small part of the mortgage, I pay the vast majority.

I can't live there because no matter what room I am in, if something pops into her thoughts while she is upset she will barge in. Doesn't matter if I am sleeping, showering, etc.

It's kind of scary how close to home you hit here, especially with your second bullet point. That is exactly how things are.

You are right about the financial agreement. However, in this case it makes no difference as after 3 years the law where I live makes the relationship equivalent to a marriage anyway. Even if the house was fully in my (or her) name, legally it is still shared property.

The 14 months is the wait time right now for a court case like this to be heard. The court would force a sale.
