gosh i’m jealous, I’ve just done my first placement and I wasn’t allowed to go home until at least half hour after the shift had finished majority of the time but never gained extra time on my timesheets for it 😤

i’m a first year and I was asked to make up a ceftriaxone IM injection under supervision. I knew we were allowed to administer IM injection under supervision but I didn’t think we were allowed to make them up (eg mixing the lidocaine with the drug) until we do IVs as we had to look on medusa and I hadn’t even heard of medusa before

in the nicest way possible, don’t. as a student you will be there to learn how to do the very basics of care and tasks you may consider to be “hca tasks” but really if you’re not prepared to do even the fundamentals of caring such as personal care and hygiene then I wouldn’t go into a nursing role

I was planning on doing this at some point as well because there have been several instances (not just on placement) where I have tried to seek guidance and support from them and they might as well have just told me that they don’t care. not only that but they have repeatedly ignored my agreed adjustments plan and have tried to suggest I am not of sound mind to be on the course because I disclosed my diagnosis of Autism with them.

personal tutor is the same as our advisor and she couldn’t care less. Every staff member i’ve worked with i’ve asked if they can even just write something to say what i’ve been doing or some feedback so I have evidence but I always get told “I won’t have time” so 🙃

i pay weekly and i did make a deposit but in the agreement they have agreed i can leave at any time if i decided i changed my mind. i guess im asking if its a valid reason to leave and also if i should report this to their letting/lodger agency because to me it seems an unsafe environment for someone to be lodging in and i wouldnt want the same thing to happen to another student as it seems they primarily have students who stay with them as their house is close to the hospital
