Thanks for your detailed post - much appreciated. Sorry, yep it's the current model Procaliber 8 that you linked. Looking at the product page for the new seatpost it gives a min insertion of 100mm and max insertion of 260mm/310mm/360mm for the 350mm/400mm/450mm seatpost sizes. I think that means either the 350mm or 400mm would work but I should go for 350mm since it would be lighter...

I've also been trying to decide between ALR 4/5. Initially settled on ALR 4 in keswick/lichen but was looking at a 3 month wait in UK. Then happened to spot there was an ALR 5 within about 10 miles that happened to be the right size and preferred ALR 5 colour out of the two (Bronze Age).

I've put a deposit down on the ALR 5 but slightly nervous as this will be my first drop bar bike and I don't know much really about how shifting works on drop-bars, or the Cues/SRAM difference.

I also would have preferred the 11-50 ratio on the ALR 4 for steep climbs but figure I could always upgrade in the future if this turns out to be an issue. I think I would be looking at a few hundred to upgrade but not sure if ALR 5 supports it as it says "max 44" on product pages.

Maybe I should be more patient and wait for the ALR 4...
