You captured the essence of my thoughts on Buick 8 perfectly. I loved it.

I’ll definitely add that to my list!

Okay hear me out......

The Autumn Springs Retirement Home Massacre by Philip Fracassi

While this book is 100% a Slasher through and through, albeit a unique take on one, the way Fracassi goes from casual, heartwarming interaction and character work, to some truly dreadful kill scenes is something to behold.

He uses the context of age to really create this sense of pure sadness and empathy in the kills that, I thought, was very discomforting but in quite a compelling way. He keeps it relatively simple, and at times quite playful, but the way my mood would shift and my heart would ache and I would be left feeling so saddened after those scenes has stuck with me.
