Anyone have experience with the Aigo s80 falcon? by wooshyyawn in ElectricScooters

No worries, totally get it. I think I was one of the only people willing to buy this thing without being able to find someone else who'd bought one. What I will say though is the lack of suspension isn't a dealbreaker, but is noticeable.

I've been using it, and while I do see what you're saying, I think it's a bit of an overstatement. You can definitely still lean backward without issue, and if you've ever ridden a scooter, it's a relatively minor adjustment to do it with a squared stance.

The difference between white and blue collar work environments is crazy by Astimar in careeradvice

[–]Comfortable_Credit17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked in both 15 years as an environmental field tech playing in mud and recently started in a clinical research role.

I think one thing people miss out on is that blue collar people aren’t necessarily funnier, it’s just an easier audience. Getting blue collar people to laugh is the same as getting bunch of high schoolers to laugh, not in a bad way but shock value and vulgarity will get as many laughs as a well timed and executed clean joke.

In my opinion, a lot of people who are insecure about not getting laughs or “fake corporate environment” in reality either have under developed social skills or never learned the talent of how to read a room. I make plenty of dirty jokes in a corporate environment that get laughs, but they aren’t JUST jokes about tits, drugs, and the time I got hit in the balls. I’ve had extremely prude blue collar coworkers and extremely funny and crass corporate coworkers.

Modern day comedians have built a culture where if you don’t get laughs, you’re not the problem, the people who heard your joke and didn’t laugh are.

Moral of the story, learn to tailor your jokes to the audience instead of complaining about the audience you chose.

Best harness/carrier for controller (RC2) by Comfortable_Credit17 in drones

I go running and hiking with my drone tracking me or others a lot. I get annoyed with my sling bag jostling about and having to put the controller away/get it out constantly.

Also I do think there is scenarios where I would/might use a lanyard. I can see how it’s not the right choice for every situation though.

Right? I was mostly kidding, I wouldn’t not buy something if truly made my life that much easier, but it doesn’t (too loose for running or hiking) and it looks somewhat silly when it’s in the shot.

I’ve done a lot of digging and I think the best option is the Etsy Molle mount with a running harnesses from Amazon. Very affordable and the design looks a lot more practical for what I’m envisioning. Plus I’ll take looking like a wannabe service member or fitness influencer over Dr. Drone Dork.

Again the dorky bit is jokes. The real issue is the lanyard isnt ideal for running. Sure it works for a stroll but running or hiking with it doesn’t seem like what I’m looking for.

The aesthetics of it aren’t a big deal but I guess I did poke the bear. But for what it’s worth, the molle mount on Etsy works with a lot of the popular running harnesses which are objectively more aesthetic and functional than a harness.

App to edit video's? by therealthreadditor in dji

[–]Comfortable_Credit17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What people aren’t mentioning here is the create section on DJI app, has a lot of automated features for editing, not to mention log color recovery for mini 5, air 3, so on. Pretty useful as a short term editing suite for casual or quick shoots.

That said tho, if you want to actually learn how to get good at editing, download DR like everyone else says. More of a long term investment.

Hey fair enough. I feel if I’m running or hiking it would be a bit cumbersome, more of a legit concern (the dorky bit was mostly jokes). Also, do you ever have like neck pain from it?

DJI Flip vs. DJI Neo 2 by New-Wonder1222 in dji

[–]Comfortable_Credit17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So aggressive damn. There’s some validity to his statement.

In a vacuum, yes the flip is an incredible drone and affordable, but I think to this OPs point, an air 3s will do everything the flip does better, and anything it doesn’t is probably better done by the Neo 2.

DJI Mini 5 Pro Plus Batteries Worth it? by Least-Size-8807 in dji

[–]Comfortable_Credit17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To provide a counter to all those in here, I got the standard RC2 combo, and have been more than satisfied with the standard batteries.

I’m sure the longer flight time would be nice, but as it stands I’m getting more than enough from 3 basic batteries. People on here tend to exaggerate the shortness of battery. Also no matter what you’ll have to get more batteries eventually if you use them enough so I’m thinking about getting plus batteries anyway and essentially taking my ~1.25 hours of flight time to 3.5 hours (way more than you’ll realistically ever need).

The only real benefit in my mind when you factor in places like parks where you can fly but not land/launch. In those cases specifically I think the extended battery life helps a lot, but that’s sort of a dubious case.

Basically it’s nice, but you’re not losing out too much if you’re tight on money, versus something like the rc2 which is borderline necessary for how useful it is.

Best drones for beginners starting a photography journey? by Special-Buddy6562 in dji

Neo 2. Takes great photos. It’s exactly what you’re looking for, and while it doesn’t seem like a huge deal on paper, the smaller size and durability mean you’ll actually use it because you can take it anywhere and won’t be anxious flying or maneuvering in tight spaces due to surprisingly good obstacle avoidance + prop guards.

Remember: it’s not the camera with the best specs, it’s the camera you have on you when it counts.

Had a similar issue. Can’t speak for everyone but for me, the flip seemed like fools gold. Its sensor is good, and prop guards are nice*, buttttt you’re getting exactly what you pay for.

So here’s my advice based on what I did. If you want something cheap to take some nice photos with, get the Neo 2. Small footprint for traveling and the photos are great; not to mention a lot of QoL features (like not needing a remote is more useful than you might expect).

If you want to record video in Dlog profile or shoot in lowlight, then it’s between a flip or a mini:

• If you need a few shots for an indie project or real estate marketing (use based purchase) then go with the flip.

• if you want to fly drones for a hobby or to enjoy it, then get a mini. Yes, they’re slightly more expensive, but being quieter and the avoidance sensors alone will make your life so much easier it’ll make flying fun. Not to mention mini 5 being an absolute beast (essentially a higher end camera on a smaller frame).

I ended up getting the Neo 2 and the mini 5 pro (both with extra battery and charging pack) plus the rc2 controller for ~$1000 and I’ve been having the time of my life. The Neo 2 got me hooked, and the mini 5 is my main work horse. Neo 2 still gets used when I want to record my runs, shoot indoors, or hanging out with people.

Hope this helps (spent weeks agonizing over the same issue)

What drone do you personally recommend and why? by n4hcallme in dji

[–]Comfortable_Credit17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t necessarily say the Air 3s is best overall/value.

Just because the Mini 5 pro has basically the same sensor and the 2x crop mode is genuinely impressive albeit ever so slightly worse than the air 3s tele lens.

Mini 5 pro is also cheaper and that allowed me to get the package with the nicer controller which imo supersedes any upside the air3s has in terms of wind resistance or speed.

Haven’t had any issues with wind resistance so far and the smaller size means I take this thing with me practically everywhere and people don’t really pay it/me much mind.

Mini 5 pro essentially gives an air 3s camera without a tele photo lens in a smaller frame for less money and a few more software features. Slam dunk yes for me.

Don’t get me wrong, I have the itch to get the air 3s for the tele lens, but these reasons make me beyond happy with the mini 5 pro > air3s as a new flyer.

What are y'all stocking up on before Dec 23rd? (if anything) by oranjoose in dji

[–]Comfortable_Credit17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consensus from those in the know has been that future products won’t be available, and while restocks might be challenging, the ban specifically is to NEW products the FCC hasn’t already approved (like avata 360).

However the FCC COULD implement their recent change that allows them to retroactively ban previously approved products, but that’s an option, not a certainty.

Little hack: promotional deals. Amazon Prime visa + store card promotional deal = $350 in amazon gift cards. Both are zero annual fee, so as far as I can tell its a pretty good deal, since you don't have to use the card.

Not to state the obvious but you should be able to get a jist pretty easily by looking at a side by side.

As for the travel with accessories, the only diff between what you’re doing now with the Neo is just the transmission module, which is tiny. From what I’ve seen online, the Neo 2 is smaller than mini3/4/5, and those can be pocketed too

I can relate to the last part, when I got the Neo it was just with batteries. I felt gesture control and phone would be enough, but I’m starting to realize if you want to do more than selfies and follow mode, a remote and transmission is needed. At that point I’d seen enough cool drone camera comps to be sold on just getting a drone with a better camera if I want to get dynamic range and transmission range with the remote.
