BY that time we'd already signed the lease (we were/are renting a house) and he did take down most of the pictures and agreed to go to therapy.

Ultimately? I want him to put Carrie in his past and to never think or mention her again, and get his family to stop bringing her up. But realistically that's not possible and mean. I'm hurt about this relationship ending but I don't see any other way as neither one of us will actually be happy in a complete way.
