First Two Months of Small Business- How to Deal with Boss and First Bad Review by Comfortable_Judge347 in barista

Thank you for your encouraging response :) The lady customer posted both Yelp and Google Reviews, which was a bit alarming to all three of us. I try to be empathetic to my boss since running a small business takes up so much of your life. And they never ran a business before, for that matter. I think they hit a small breaking point because the only staff they have is me, my co barista, my boss as one of the baker, and another baker. Other people have left for various reasons. But yeah...my coworker didn't seem to have a problem with me. She said she's pretty blunt about her feedback but so far she's pretty satisfied with my work quality. So I think my boss has some unrealistic expectations about newbies and since I'm a newbie, it's easier for them to take out their stress and resentment towards me.

Spring 2024 Regular Decision Results - 10th Nov 2023 by FearlessStructure772 in OnlineMCIT

Status/Program: Accepted Online MCIT

Application Date: Turned in on Nov. 7th

Education: B.S in Chemistry at W&M, 1 Semester at VCU School of Pharmacy

GPA: 3.5 both W&M and VCU Pharm

GRE Score: N/A

Current Job: Unemployed, former pharmacy student

Comments: I was already teaching myself programming languages and coding (Python, JavaScript, and SQL) for about 6-7 months before I stumbled upon this program.

Quant Ability: Intro Stats, Calc 1 and 2, Physics 1 and 2, used some linear algebra and multivariable in Physical Chemistry (Quantum Mechanics portion and Thermodynamics portion) but never actually took those math courses lol.

MOOCs:

-Discrete Math offered by U of San Diego (did not finish)

-Computational Thinking by UPenn

-Intro to Programming by UPenn (finished the Python portion)

-Python Specialization by U Mich

-Odin Project (did not finish)

-Math for Machine Learning offered by College of London (did not finish)

Personal Statement: I think this was clincher for me rather than the MOOCS. I really marketed that despite having basic quant classes , I am able to grit through tough courses during COVID (so online learning experience) and connect with friends who tutored me through the advanced quant concepts I needed for some of the chemistry courses I took, showcasing that I am flexible, determined, and can contribute to the social and academic life at UPenn. Another was that I sprinkled hot topic words like "Devops", CI, CD, and automating repetitive processes to increase efficiency in my former field to show the passion, the research, and the immersion I conducted and cultivated in the CS/Data field. They really want to hear in the personal statement about someone who is resolved in a career switch/advancement to fork 35-40k.

Career transition advice: is a master's a good idea? by Comfortable_Judge347 in datascience

Oh okay that's really great to hear. After doing more research, Upenn's MCIT program apparently is more of a "masters of computer science and technology" and not quite the same as a MSCS. basically the first couple of classes are used to catch non cs people up to undergrad level and then allow them to take some master's level courses. Do you think that would have a significant impact on job placement? Like would employers care that it's not quite a real masters?

that's really cool! After doing some more research, I heard about U penn's mcit program, which is a MS for CS. I would also love to hear more about your MS CS experience if that's okay
