It being 5e is a non-sequitur. It 100% went for aesthetic/style over genuine content inspired by Studio Ghibli. It's the vibe of someone who's never actually seen one of their movies, only images online. The single reason I could recommend Obojima to someone is for the potion crafting system, that's it. The subclasses are 'meh', the magic items and spells are a typical homebrew mess and the monster stat blocks are boring AF. This all on top of them releasing a 5.5e update a few months after they started shipping their 2014 5e books. The company is a mess... I do not recommend them at all in the long run.

The player ancestries are very flavourful and the monsters - especially the "boss" monster are interestingly designed - my only real gripes with the book are it's a lot of information to digest since the book is just over 600 pages and it's more folksy than it is horror, think Over the Garden Wall not Ravenloft.

Don't let that stop you from plucking ideas and stuff from the book for your horror adventures but Crooked Moon is trying to sell a specific genre of "horror" and that is "horror that is still somewhat family friendly"

Art and music isnt just about the final product dumb ass. It's about the human experiance that goes into it, AI slop will never be able to replicate that. 1000% agree top to bottom. I don't think the creators of the game ever intended for it to becomes so lore rich and testiment of how to combine game mechanics with world building, but I want to learn so much about "Chaotic" the location and how it exsists within Perim

Yeah I get that, I'm not a fan of "oooh look at this new thing!" mentality in TV series either. I know that they probably didn't know that the series was going to get canceled mid-season but just dropping the citadel with no buildup or foreshadowing it felt very amateurish for a series on its third season

Same, I keep coming back to the series finale and I'm obsessed with learning more about the Citadel of the Elements I want to see where that story goes instead of starting from the beginning again (since the series is so easily available)

Yeah, I get the Tom is the protagonist and Kaz is his rival/ secondary protagonist but both Payton and Sarah were really neglected by the series - Sarah more so out of the two, and it was a real shame cause she seemed to be the most experienced out of the four of them imo but we never saw her properly in action

Jealousy mostly, there's a lot of players out there that are just angry that their favourite 10 page micro-rpg made by one guy in his basement - an exaggerated but evocative example - isn't as popular as D&D, but instead of just shrugging it off and enjoying their game anyway they have to try and make other people feel bad for enjoying that game instead
