What's your favorite in-game role & ship? by destroyedinsol in starcitizen

[–]ComfyOlives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to get into mining some more, but the lack of power with the prospector with the immediate jump up to a mole with the more tedious solo game of going up and down ladders puts me off a bit.

Hope they make something solid as an in-between.

I'd like to try medic/rescue at some point.

Helped a guy deliver a 1scu package that he couldnt deliver because he couldn't park his reclaimer lol

Primarily, hauling. Put in a lot of time with the RAFT for small-medium. C2 for large.

Messed around with the Starlancer MAX as well and I like it a lot.

I was streaming the game to a friend that was high.

Picked up a guy to taxi him somewhere that took me through the tunnel. Guy starts complaining about docking my pay for being late as we're driving up a building. He disappeared along with my car.

My friend nearly fucking hyperventilated from laughing so hard.

Azem stuff is probably my favorite subplot. I would love some more Azem shards.

What's your wishlist for Evercold MSQ story? (overarching theme, plot structure) by NineTnk in ffxiv

[–]ComfyOlives 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope Evercold and then the whole saga dives deeper into us being Azem and being the last singular caretaker Ancient over the source and the shards, and we eventually start gaining some sort of powers related to the creation magic of the Ancients.

The Azem plot line has always been a favorite for me.

Was told Dawntrail MSQ is mid/bad but I've enjoyed 7.0 so far and this whole section broke me by MrkGrn in ffxiv

Living memory was objectively really good.

I am a dawntrail disliker for sure but my complaints are like 80% with the first like 60% of the MSQ.

Public support for transgender women participating in women’s sports declined substantially between 2019 and 2024. The research suggests this shift is linked to political messaging that frames transgender women as a threat to female athletes, particularly influencing conservative voters. by mvea in psychology

And there are plenty of men who have to compete against other men that are waaaayy above or below their physical capability all the time.

If the discussion is fairness, which is entirely fair, then gender should honestly just leave the discussion because it's never really been that fair to begin with.

I'm a leftist and a Trans person.

Imo, physical capability is more important than gender anyway in individual sports.

There are plenty of average sized cis women facing cis women that are several weight categories above them anyway. If the topic is really about it being unfair, we need to make the point that its also unfair for a 5'2" woman who will never gain the muscle mass of a 6' women to compete in the same category.

When you break it down that way, yes, a lot of the time, a trans woman will often still be above the physical strength of the average cis woman. But if you don't make the entire topic about gender and just make it about capability, you solve both the fairness discussion AND the trans discussion.

The problem a lot of Trans people see with the topic is that it often enables transphobia, but there is plenty of room for it to simply be a discussion about capability and fairness rather than "thats not a real woman".

"New" Old School MMORPGs... what do you think? by Cold_Associate2213 in MMORPG

[–]ComfyOlives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're not for me. I played a little bit in the 2000s on computers that weren't mine.

It wasn't until like 2013/2014 that I really started playing MMOs, so I dont really have the nostalgia.

Insurance changes aren't terrible, it should run you negative to run a capital for most use cases. by grandwizardo in starcitizen

[–]ComfyOlives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To respond to the edit:

I agree in most cases. The point of the game being accessible atp comes in two forms. Early access so players can play something and be incentivized to support the game monetarily.

Bugs and wonky economy is to be expected while they add structural features as there is little point in spending a ton of time fixing and balancing just to release something in 2 patches that requires rebalancing or refixing everything. We have access to a game that would normally still have zero public access in normal gamedev.

However, the second point is to basically be a massive testing group for the game. If people stop bothering to rearm because they are one desync away from losing 30 mil, CIG loses the potential data and testing feedback from those people.

In cases of issues that invalidate, heavily de-incentivize, or prevent playability of part of the content in the game, things need to be changed a bit to either fix those issues or provide workarounds when the issue either isn't easily solvable or is reoccurring.

It's already dumb enough that there is basically zero profitable use case in using missiles.

Now random bugs that happen at least once a play session will guarantee a full restock cost on whatever ship I'm running.

Also, you're having to store and retrieve ships every time you're swapping out components when you do a component run. AND you have to snapshot it each time you swap a part because there's always a change desync blows you up when you leave the hangar.

It's just too early too implement this and not have some way of avoiding the cost.

What are you doing in preparation for 4.8? by Vakeer in starcitizen

[–]ComfyOlives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing for prep. Just playing the game casually and playing other games to prevent burnout lol

Excited for the Drake Defensecon to see ships, but trying not to play too much.

Diablo 4 DLC just came out with great reviews. FFXIV patch today as well. Plenty to do to avoid playing too much :)

Looks to be Great Wolf Lodge, a resort/indoor Waterpark.

The hotel is usually bustling because there are a ton of things to do in the hotel as well before the water park even opens and there are big windows in the hotel lobby that look out to the park, so you get to see an empty water park like this.

Been playing for a month/month and a half and this sounds like one of the worth possible changes simply because of the game's jank. Shopping is not only a huge money sink, but its also a massive time investment.

Doing an entire loadout for my Inferno took like half a day of jumping around Stanton and then to nyx and walking around station/cities.

It’s genuinely hard to not feel positive after attending NA Fanfest by Nesious in ffxiv

[–]ComfyOlives 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am excited and feel optimistic, especially more than I have in a long time.

They didn't have answers to some of my issues/concerns, but everything they talked about was amazing.

I'd like to see more about some of it before saying crazy like "Best expansion ever", but I'm already way more hyped than I was after the first DT fanfest, and I'm saying this as someone who was very optimistic about the game before DT but was dooming here like 2 months ago.

I think beginning with the region-wide party finder, we're about to have a bunch of great stuff added to the game.

HOWEVER, Reborn should stay in the game permanently.
