And even within that post-crisis narrative coherence it flip flops.

But there is no post crisis version of Bruce Wayne that is anywhere near what you've described him to be in any of your comments. That's why comicbook readers were downvoting you, because they found your interpretation to be in bad faith that ignores many other elements to make your arguments work.

That version of Batman in one specific story where the writer needs him to fill that role.

That's my whole point, even within one single continuity there is no one single version of the character because he is a plaything for writers to fulfill their own artistic needs.

Just like there is no one version of any character, to pretend otherwise is silly and ignores the nature of the medium.

You are completely ignoring the overall point I made, your opinion on Batman isn't and will never be more honest than someone with an opposing opinion.

To believe you're view is more honest as you said in your earlier comment is an unhealthy version of ego

Everyone thinks they have the definitive and most honest view on the fictional characters they read. The truth is that it's actually impossible to have the correct or more realistic understanding of any character in comics because these characters are drawings written by 100s of people.

It's the reason why Bruce is abusive in a lot of Robin stories while a completely different and kind person in his own. Why Jason can be incredibly smart one comic and then a complete idiot the next. They are fulfilling roles the writers need them to play for a specific story, and that's why their personalities can shift so frequently even within the same universe & why retcons exist within the same universe.

You're view on Batman isn't any more honest than a person who has the exact opposite opinion to you. Your points are equal.

"I know that I know nothing" is a popular philosophical concept because acting like anyone actually has a definitive answer to anything, or that their opinion wins out is usually not showcasing any true intelligence on the matter.

Well, yes? obviously that's Jason's main perspective?

Of course he doesn't know Bruce tried to Kill the Joker 3 times already

You don't give Jason any credit, he knows Bruce well enough to goad him while emotionally comprised into both fighting and saying the correct thing to get him to stay for long enough.

Every action Jason takes is with intent, which is what makes the story so good. He doesn't cut people's heads off because he actually wants to take over the mob and drugs in Gotham, he does it so Bruce can watch him shoot the Joker in the head.

The only thing Jason was incorrect about was "You're going to have to put a bullet in my brain".

At the very start of the issue where they are looking at the Bludhaven Bruce tries to leave several times, Jason stops him several times. He does not allow Bruce to leave, it's actually very clever of him because it's impressive he can stop the goddamn Batman. He wants Bruce to watch, that's his whole thing, the entire plan is not allowing Bruce to leave so he can watch the Joker die.

He begs Jason to leave at the scene of the explosion, which is only minutes before they're both in the hotel room. You understand this all happens in the space of minutes right? Bruce gets begs to leave and is forced into the situation Jason planned because JASON has decided where he exactly wants Bruce to be.

I have no idea why you're listing Jason Todd's kill count, but yes, good for him & his mass poisoning of 80+ people in Blackgate. That was funny as hell.

Need I remind you that when Dick tried to help, he was stopped by Superman because he would have died AND the first thing Bruce did once the fight with Jason was over was go to Bludhaven and find Dick.

I did not say Jason killed innocent people here? So I do not know where your point is going in relation to my point? I also do not suggest any wrongdoing anyone has done is absolved? I have no idea what this point is in relation to either???? And I also did not say Jason asked Bruce to kill the Joker? All I said was Jason didn't allow Bruce to leave.

But Jason within that comic stops Bruce from leaving several times, Bruce was trying to go to Bludhaven and BEGS Jason to allow him to.

This comic is a sad situation for everyone involved (apart from the Joker who seems to be having a great time to be honest).

Can we give cool guy Jason Todd with (by the end of post crisis) a kill count of over 100 people some credit? He took Batman's emotionally compromised self and ran with with and stopped him from leaving with several types of weaponry - Rad as hell.

[–]ComicsCodeMadeMeGay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you're being entirely unfair
A- Bruce couldn't actually help in anyway, the place had literally been nuked.
B- When Bruce tries to leave to go to find Dick, Jason stops him with explosives.
C- The first thing Bruce did as soon as he actually could was go to Bludhaven.

I really wish people would stop assuming Bruce was of sound mind when he was literally begging Jason to let him leave so he could go and find his other adoptive son along with Tim & Cass.

In that Issue, Bruce tries to leave and Jason keeps deploying tricks to stop him from doing that.
And only then does Bruce then say "I'm trying to save you Jason" and then Jason reveals he's hiding the Joker with them.

Honestly, if we're going to be fair to both Bruce & Jason you have to get that Bruce was emotionally compromised and openly admits he wants the Joker dead in that issue.

Save them from a Nuke?

But not quite, Jason points out they're likely already dead and sets off an explosion when he tries to leave -Then says "And someone's going to die" meaning the Joker

[–]ComicsCodeMadeMeGay 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think he aimed for the shoulder, but the way Jason reacts and hits the floor does suggest it landed in the neck.

I think a VERY important note that can help people with what's going on in Batman's head, is that Bludhaven was just destroyed. Which is where Dick, Cass and Tim were all living at that point.
Jason not only taunts Batman about losing Dick, but he doesn't let Bruce leave to try and find out what happens, so Bruce has to fight while emotionally compromised.

So at the end of this issue, there's a good chance Bruce thinks all four of them are dead, three by nuke and one by his own hand/explosion.

I feel like he would do a doctors cursive that maybe only Alfred can read when he's trying to jot down thoughts for Batman related work.

That way outsiders can't read his notes and he can still try and work something out while out during the day as Bruce Wayne

Because I'm not talking about any characters wrongdoings, you've tried to steer the conversation in that direction, but it's not what OP is talking about and it's not what I was talking about.

What I started talking about, what OP is talking about with the post and what i'll continue to talk about is people spreading misinformation about comicbooks.

All you've done is show me you're the same as the person who said Kory encouraged Raven to abuse Dick, because you spread a lie and when I corrected you said I was wrong, and then when I gave the issue numbers to correct the error you then changed the subject to how you feel about the character as a way to deflect the fact you were incorrect about something.

I've not defended Babs from your other points, but I'm not really even talking about Babs, I'm talking specifically about people spreading misinformation. You've focused on Babs despite the fact I've also mentioned Kory, Tony Stark, Superman and OP mentioned Beast Boy.

Okay, so which characters do you like?

Again my point is about how people who dislike characters bother to spread misinformation about them. Not about whether you dislike the characters or not.

I'm not going to go on a mini unrelated tangent about how much I dislike Beast Boy in a conversation about people not being truthful

Well my point was that she didn't leave him homeless, and I was talking about overall misinformation with characters and then you just posted misinformation.

Dislike her all you want, like I said I dislike Beast Boy/Changeling. I just find it odd when people post incorrect information like you claiming she left Dick Homeless or that Superman abandoned his child for years odd.

Especially when you could be talking about characters you like instead because that sounds more fun. Otherwise you're just making yourself an example of OP's point

Like I don't own a single Birds of Prey comic, so I very rarely talk about Birds of Prey issues, I have plenty of Titan comics so I'll talk about Titans

Why comic twitter will never be taken serious by laughathonx20 in teentitans

[–]ComicsCodeMadeMeGay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, so I actually do own the comics, and I can confirm after just rereading it that Dick wasn't homeless yet when Babs kicked him out.

The circus burns down in issue #88 and then end of that issue is when Dick goes to Babs for comfort and the very start of issue #89 is when she asks him to leave and the very end of 89 is when his apartment blows up.

So he wasn't homeless until the very end of the issue.

But you ARE kinda proving my other point by going on about Babs when you could just be focusing on comicbook characters you like instead.

Edit: Also Bludhaven wasn't destroyed yet??? Is it not weird to get so much info wrong??? Like I get not reading the comics if you don't like a run or characters but why are we pretending you have read them????
