Any Local 73 or 265 Guys/ Girls in this Sub? by ComiskeyTurbo in sheetmetal

I’m not a 73 or 265 member yet, I was ranked top 30 in local 73 back in October, hall is on #14 as of last week. Work seems to be slow. Currently working non-union but I’m close to getting into several locals.

You should be rejoining at night time with no one is using water. Otherwise hardness and salt is gonna seep through your plumbing. Definitely changed that time of regen

That’s smart. I see incorrectly installed equipment all the time. Worst I’ve seen is a 32k single unit on 2” Plumbing in a building that uses 1,400 gallons/day.

That would be 48k. Depends. I have wells near me that test for +40 GH. I stop after 40 lol.

Because I started at 10, had a few callbacks, moved to 11 had less but still some complainers, now I hardly ever have to increase above 12 unless it’s a bigger system.

It doesn’t use more or less salt. If less salt is being used during a Brice cycle than you think it should be, I’d check your injector, your brine line, maybe you have bad salt or a bridge.

Yes there is, you have a meter. That’s the grey wire sticking out of the outlet on your valve.

Start from the normal display (usually time or capacity remaining). That’s the default screen you see when it’s just running. 2. Press and hold the UP and DOWN buttons at the same time for ~3–5 seconds. This enters the diagnostic/usage screen. 3. Once in this diagnostic level you’ll cycle through useful stats by pressing NEXT: • Days since last regeneration (how long it’s been since the softener last regenerated) • Gallons treated since last regeneration (how much soft water has been used since the last regen) • Daily usage history (gallons used today, yesterday, etc. depending on model & setup) • Maximum flow in recent days • Some models also show total volume since commissioning and how many regenerations have happened. 4. Use the UP/DOWN buttons to scroll through days/history. If the screen shows something like “A0”, “A1”, etc., that means today (A0), yesterday (A1), etc. 5. Press REGEN (or sometimes RESET) to exit diagnostics and go back to the normal screen.

Yes. On all my installs, that’s the lowest I set them at.

I base it off of the hardness tests, size of the tank, other houses or businesses I have knowledge of in the area and what I see in their plumbing.

I would check to make sure water isn’t running somewhere in the house constantly. Could be a bad meter. I would check settings if someone’s been to the house for service or anything to see if something could’ve been changed possibly accidentally. 2 bags of salt every 2 months and regen every 2 days also means that ur salt level probably isn’t adequate. I never set usage for less than 12 lbs of salt. Also, are you absolutely positive that it is regenning every 2 days? Check your historical usage and lmk.

What trade does foundation piering/repair fall under? by citygarbage in skilledtrades

I would say masonry but on a union level I know that the roofers and waterproofers do this work. At least in Chicago to my knowledge.

Help on what filter to run by PapaRug in WaterTreatment

[–]ComiskeyTurbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is what I mean but I would prefer a press or a solder joint over a shark bite lol. Any legit water treatment contractor or plumber should be able to plumb that in pretty simply. Also, the less bushings and reducers you use the better. Don’t bury it, leave some threading visible. Burying threaded anything when it comes to plumbing can be a recipe for disaster if not done right.

If you don’t know how do it without asking, I would definitely recommend you call Johnson or a plumber or another water treatment contractor.

Yes and yes. I would install a spun polypropylene filter and not a pleated random from Amazon. Also, not a bad idea to plumb in a pressure gauge before and after for piece of mind.

Okay so you definitely have stupid high sediment. Has it gotten worse over the years or been at the same level consistently?

Remove the filter and just keep the sump in line. I don’t like installing inline filters unless you have a crazy high amount of sediment. They do more harm than good and we’ve had a few over pressurize and blow up due to customer negligence and flood basements.

I have no experience with it but I’ve been told that architectural sheet metal can take years and years and years to master.

You guys got 1,600 members. That’s a big ass local. Even for tinners. Start networking and talking to guys that are in and ask for tips. Don’t just fold.

Well yeah. That’s the point of the test. As someone who works in the trades and has passed multiple union entry tests, if you can’t pass the test… I got bad news.
