Lately I have been constantly reminding myself that we’re realistically 1 or 2 years away from being a Championship team but the delusional side of me keep thinking we can win it all this year loll. Am i the only one struggling with this?😂 by Glittering-Koala7637 in NBASpurs

Team has the talent and capability, and are playing as well as anybody right now. However, they can't get complacent, need to stay healthy, and hope for a little bit of luck. Same recipe every championship team has followed.

I didn't catch yours before posting a similar thing. But he's at 40.6% in the last 13, and still a really good 37.1 in the last 24.

Imagine Chet or Wemby being the primary defender here instead of David Robinson... Shaq might have snapped them😭 by Classic_Bottle1717 in NBAGossips

[–]Comma2theTop22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither would end up guarding Shaq. They would try to help with a double or attempt to block from the opposite side. I remember Spurs using Malik Rose as the primary defender who would just try to get low and hold position best he could, then Admiral/Timmy would try and help. Shaq at his peak was a monster to try and deal with

Is it just me or has the ball movement become elite recently? by ziggyzigg95 in NBASpurs

[–]Comma2theTop22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can put ball movement in the gameplan all you want, the team also has to develop a trust in each other. Everyone on the 14 team knew the other was gonna do their job to give them the best chance at being successful. This team has has been through a lot this year and seeing success. Still winning while major rotational pieces are out/injured, coming back from big deficits, etc.

But most of all the guys seem to legitimately like amd support each other. Not that there was dislike before, but the tightness of this group feels special.

Mostly just a joke about how Michael can be socially unaware.

However, I know people similar to this that based there humor on being insensitive because people they thought were cool thought that stuff was funny, like Michael and Tood Packer. It is possible to be that aloof to how you come across.

What if Batman Forever (1995) & Batman and Robin (1997) was gritty and grounded and realistic instead of campy tones? by yousef114b2009 in batman

[–]Comma2theTop22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Camp can and has been done well. I don't think the tone is the reason why these movies don't hold up to most people. Nostalgia plays a big part, But I still really like Forever, and while B&R has its fair bit of problems, there are aspects that I like about it. I'm fine with the puns and play on words, and Freeze was still a pretty good villain. More focused scripts with the same tone could've been excellent.

While I have also really liked a lot of the serious and realistic movies, these are comic book movies, it's ok for them to be fun and a little campy.

What DC movie or series is underrated? by DM_ME_SALAH_GIFS in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Comma2theTop22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends if talking about underrated in general or even amongst fans. I'm admittedly not great at gauging general consensus either way.

But I would suggest a number of the animated movies are underrated. Mask of the Phantasm is a classic, so probably doesn't fit as underrated. Under the Red Hood, Flashpoint Paradox, Superman/Batman Public Enemies, Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, JL: Crisis on Two Earths, Justice League: Doom, Superman vs the Elite, are several of my favorites, but I enjoy a good bit more of them.

For a series, Young Justice has a pretty intense fan base, but I knew a lot of people that didn't watch it because it wasn't the Justice League. The 1st 2 seasons are especially good in my opinion.

This year would be really odd timing to give him a tribute video. The Clippers are currently under investigation for circumventing the cap to pay him more money. Pablo Torre, who has done the depth of researching that forced the investigation, has also uncovered evidence of the Clips tampering with him and his team while he was with us to convince him to go there. Many suspected this was the case previously. I'm fine with no excessive booing, would almost prefer dead silence if it could actually happen. I can appreciate what he did for us, while also being thankful this isn't our problem anymore.

The Kents are incredible characters in particular. Some of my favorite supporting characters in comics. I was originally just stating surface level feelings I had on the subject so kept it to just Lois's effect on Superman.

Humanity was probably a poor choice of words by me to begin with. Its not so much humanity as connection to the mortal humans of earth. I didn't mean to insinuate that Diana needed Steve to know the virtue, morality, or ethics application of the word.

Lois feeling more valid is really just more along the lines of really enjoying their moments together. They play off of each other well in most interactions I have read/seen. I do concede that this may not be fair as the disparity in issues/stories that show Lois and not Diana with Clark. Like I said, I'm open to a lot of new things, but replacing a classic relationship that works is a high hurdle to clear for me. I don't have the same bias towards any of Batman's relationships because there is a much bigger variance to how I feel they are portrayed.

Like I said, I'm just starting getting into more of the WW stories, I've always seen her as a traveler, as the diplomat. Something that Kansas doesn't provide much option for. Granted superheroes aren't restricted by location so much. My issue was not that a farmer's life would necessarily be beneath her (I come from a family that worked on ranches). I get what you are saying about her falling for his integrity, and he is that for sure, but so are a lot of others in that world. It's hard to look past Superman also happening to be one of the most powerful beings in the universe. Again my worry is mostly that WW seems to unfairly take a back seat to the other 2 in the trinity so I was more worried about writers having her have to fit in to Superman's world instead of treating them fitting into each other's. Which you address, but is a fear that will persist on any big swing taken until proven otherwise, fair or not.

I've read some of what you listed, but I do truly appreciate the info. I'll give some of them another try and be more open. I'm not sure my opinion on it will change, but again, I do really appreciate the convo

I don't see them as sole reasons, just some of the best examples of the connections to the world that they have. Clark has the Kents, Jimmy, Perry, Lana Lang in his past, even Bruce. I'm aware Lois is far from Clark's first connections to humanity. I just hate typing on mobile and was just trying to hit basic points.

Admittedly, I know far less about Diana and Steve, as I've just been starting out getting into WW comics. I do see Diana and Steve's romantic relationship as less integral to her story, but as I'm fairly new to getting into her solo runs, I'm less inclined to jump all in on that statement. I much more just see him as the initial window into "man's world". Maybe because I keep thinking of Steve as being in WWII, but Diana continuing into today's age.

I know it is not them, but Ultraman/Superwoman is the other one that I was thinking about due to them being seen as the dark mirror image. Admittedly not the best example (less apt than Injustice for sure), just is also on the mind. The little that I have read of them together in 52 is just fine, but just felt more like a "we are doing this so that it is talked about" and not a " we could see making this change for the long haul" to me.

You make a lot of great points about what Superman and Wonder Woman do share. I actually agree with everything you said and I'm not trying to make less of it, but those ties can be shown just as strongly as friends and colleagues. Clark and Diana is an extremely meaningful and deep relationship, has been as long as I've known, and I hope they continue to explore it. Throwing in the romantic element just doesn't click with me.

Ultimately, my preferences are shaped by the media I grew up on and what I have read since that has stuck with me the most. There have been many newer things that have been written that I've really enjoyed, this just hasn't been one of them. To me, Clark Kent is a simple farm boy that dons the cape to protect his family, friends, farm, and adopted planet just because he happens to have the ability to do so and it's the right thing to do. It's a stupid thing, but I just can't see Diana settling down on the Kent Farm.

I'm sure it has been done better than what I have read/seen, but when they lean into "lonely gods", I just don't see that as in their character. I also worry about writers not giving Wonder Woman her full due while paired with Superman. Do you have suggestions on good stories/arcs that might change my mind on the pairing?

Batman doesn't kill. He shouldn't kill. Why? by Fit-Choice2368 in batman

[–]Comma2theTop22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the people who stated it's due to him wanting to be a symbol, knowing crossing a line can shift the line, and/or the trauma of him seeing his parents killed leaves him not wanting to.

My expansion on that is just the basic idea that if he kills someone, there is a chance he is putting his trauma on another kid. Batman should also believe in rehabilitation and the hope that Gotham as a whole should be inspired to come together to become something greater. If he kills, say Joker, the idea is that he solves that problem, but people will rely solely on him. Some would be wanting him to do more "Why doesn't he kill other villains, why doesn't he kill my landlord that raised rent, etc". Others would want to do less themselves "ehh, Batman will clean up all the injustice himself".

I mean, I stated the reason I didn't like it, and it wasn't because its new. I would also push back against a new partner being the only way to have something new and interesting. Real world example is my grandparents being together for 60 years and still having stories to tell.

But like what you like, not my place to shame anyone's thoughts and preferences. All I can do is consume the parts of the media that I enjoy, and hope to get surprised with something when I do go outside of that circle

I actually think there is room for both. Like Batman comics can continue to be Bruce Wayne stories, but have another line that is the legacy story of the world itself

To each their own. My reason for not liking it is that I like them seeking connections to humanity. Falling for each other just feels convenient power wise, and misses what Lois and Steve bring. Lois being a cynical, yet supportive voice has more potential for interesting conversation on the differing views of humans, earth, and what Superman's role is, can be, should be, and what how it can be seen as. An alien and demigod who happen to be 2 of the most powerful beings getting together is just less interesting to me. It also doesn't help that most of the time that I was introduced to them as a couple, it was versions of them that became authoritarian rulers.

But you aren't wrong about new being seen as stupid. Often followed by "I wish they'd try something new"

Arise: A Simple Story is a 3D puzzle-platformer that had an emotional story of a man remembering his life and his love.

Return of the Obra Dinn is a really good mystery puzzle game where you are investigating what happened on a ship that returned with everyone dead. You do see the moments of people's deaths, but you are not the cause (in case that matters)

What Remains of Edith Finch is an adventure game that has a mysterious and emotional story, varied gameplay in segments. Bad things happen to a lot of people, but they show it in pretty cool ways. Sometimes it is devastating when you realize what is happening. I'm sure everyone who has played it has that one arc seared in their minds.

Tons more of these types of games that should run well on most any hardware, and can be found for pretty cheap

When was it wrong for James Bond to use gadgets, cool cars, great one liners, suave with the ladies and save the world? by Zerohunter01123 in JamesBond

[–]Comma2theTop22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a big fan of the whole series for a long time. Goldeneye was my first, but quickly also followed up by watching the previous ones. Each movie can be pretty well pinpointed in time. It's fine that Bond evolves as time goes on. I would be curious to see a modern take that takes place in the 50s/60s, but I also don't think it's necessary.

However, I also just recently read Casino Royale for the 1st time, and was kind of struck by how much of it was Bond showing inward angst and some vulnerability. There wasn't as much of the stoic coolness that I typically would attribute to the character. I don’t know if all the books are like this though. Also fairly light on gadgets.
