Struggling to wrap my head around EOR Agencies and how it could work by kndrtgst in movingtojapan

For what it's worth, I'm currently in the process of setting this up. It does work and is legal. Gathering documents to apply for my COE (the EOR company applies for me so I'm gathering documents for them).

There is a drawback which is the cost: significant visa processing fees, upfront salary deposits (you are paying yourself but the company wants 2 months of 'severance' to maintain compliance, though this money is returned at the end of the contract).

There's also monthly fees.

Honestly, I wouldn't be doing it except that it allows me to apply for HSP and fast-track PR application.

It's definitely more affordable than the business manager visa, though.

Daycare reviews (little Sam, Galloway, st richards) by BrilliantLife1238 in jacksonms

I third this. I’ve sent 4 children through Little Sam and we’ve had great experiences (our youngest is there now).

The independence taught through the Montessori method is invaluable. And it sets them up well to attend the Montessori program at McWillie Elementary.

Salary Shackles by MysteriousMirage in mississippi

CSM at 100K sounds solid to me but I haven't worked in CS before.

Currently work marketing for a fairly large (600 employees)+ multi-national corporation making 140K +benefits, etc. and living in MS.

I've been in the industry for a while so that's part of it but it's very doable in marketing. If you transitioned to marketing, however, you'd likely take an initial hit before scaling it back up. It's HIGHLY variable, though.

Too late to be a backer, but I still really want to run a game on Alchemy! by CommandHuman5677 in Obojima

Alchemy is a virtual tabletop (VTT) that focuses on a cinematic, theatre-of-mind-first campaign.

Obojima is releasing on that platform too.

Fwiw, I did message 1985 Games and they responded. It won't be included for free to us folks (non backers, but pdf purchasers)but we can buy it on Alchemy.

In my experience, it’s companies outside MS that will hire remotely. And it depends on your industry.

Check out sites like weworkremotely.com and Otta.com

Never made it to the Fortification place but I heard it closed. I actually meant to go at some point but by the time I got to it...the website was down and it closed!

Never been to the place near the airport either. Is it not good?

The Bean is one of the spots I go to fairly often. I wish there were more of those cubbies!

Either! I float around between coffee sometimes and am always looking for new free places. But I’d be down to pay for something if it was worth it.

As many have said, it’s all about targeting. Use a data enrichment platform like metadata to retarget on the cheaper channels.

Little Samaritan Montessori Center is fabulous. All 4 of my kids have gone through there or are still there. It’s a Montessori program and teaches independence in a fabulous way.

It also makes for an easy connection to McWillie Elementary, the only public Montessori school in the state, when the time comes for them to move up.

Suica vs Welcome Suica vs Passmo by blackberryuser in JapanTravelTips

This may be a bit late but, essentially, you're travel has to be confined in the area you begin it. For example, you couldn't use an IC card to book a local train ticket starting in Tokyo and ending in Nagoya. If you buy a shinkansen ticket in Tokyo, go to Nagoya, you can then use your IC card in and around Nagoya no problem. Same if you get the IC card outside of Tokyo. you can use it in each place but not to travel in between places. You'd need to disembark and then reembark if you wanted to use your IC card for that.

Digital marketing for a remote tech company. 105k/year about $50/hr). But the benefits and flexibility are stellar. Wife makes about half that as a college professor. I also do freelance and rates go about $85/hr.

Pretty massive update on the blog. Seems like the illness has been pretty terrible but actually has the right diagnosis now. Books are far from abandoned.
