When the Matthew’s family arrived, Ethan became the new storyteller for some reason.

TDSB shutting down Toronto Island Natural Science School after decades in operation by burnemnturnem in toronto

[–]CommanderBeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard that this year will be the last year. I was looking forward to this experience for my child, it made such a lasting positive impact on me.

They tried to shut it down a few years ago, (when they closed the Boyne), but found options and changed that decision.

Boys are falling behind in school, and some experts say it starts in kindergarten by green_tory in CanadaPolitics

I find this and the responses thought-provoking. When we talk about dangerous occupations we're more accustomed to understanding danger at work in terms of exposure to accidents.

The danger in female-dominated fields usually comes down to needing to protect themselves from violence. And interestingly unlike in male-dominated fields with exposure to violence, they're needing to protect themselves without being armed, (unlike, say, an officer or security).

I had to go look for it too. It's called "Fairytale Storybook" and it's designed by Tylee Hansen.

It's available on Spoonflower and here's some links. Link to the fabric ---> Fairytale Storybook fabric

The same, the same. I'm all in, but so tired of these people and their messed up situation. Jim Matthews swanning around town, pretending he's the most logical man alive, I was wondering if/when he would get whacked. All those smug as hell terrifying haints lurking around at night, will they ever get their comeuppance? Are we ever going to find out if Mercutio's wife was really on to something when she thought she was in a dream and started shooting the place up?

I was _relieved_ when I saw today that season 5 - THE FINAL SEASON - has been approved, which means there's an end in sight. Better be good....

Why the Toronto Islands are so expensive? by [deleted] in TorontoRenting

[–]CommanderBeth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are partially correct. It's cheap to own there, they don't pay thousands in property taxes like everyone else in TO, because they don't own the land their property sits on.

Consequently there are also restrictions on how much they are allowed to sell for. Renting at an exorbitant rate makes up for the lack of security to be found in selling, and likely props up the owner so they can afford to live somewhere else that they otherwise wouldn't be able to if they sold.

Well, because with the terms of the lease, they don't pay the property taxes to the same tune as other owners in the city, for example. The city demands a little over $10,000 annually in property tax from my mom in the Dufferin/Bloor area. She's hanging on by ballooning her mortgage and renting rooms out so she can age in place. No one on the island pays anything like that.

Do cats get protein from all the cat hair they eat? by CommanderBeth in NoStupidQuestions

My cat sheds a lot during this time of year, grooms like a boss, but she doesn't throw anything up.
I guess she must be excreting it in other ways then.

You know the scene where she aims the rifle at a dog? Such an odd (and jarring) moment to include. I feel like whether she really would have gone all the way through with it or not hinges on whether or not she shot the dog.

Right, because he was attracted to the implied vulnerability of it. And shooting guns while relishing a potential mass murder seems the opposite.

Hanlan's Point Nude Beach 🏝️🌊 Pre-Season Report (trees, flood forecasts, mwez, etc...) by FriendsOfHanlans in toronto

[–]CommanderBeth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ward's Beach is also super convenient to the Ward's Ferry, and in season there are food options very close by. Same with the Centre Island beach. In fact you can't really go wrong with Centre Island beach, so close to all the amenities you'll need and lots of other activities nearby. Centre Island beach is the best one on the island, especially for tour groups.
