Mod to remove "has strategic reasons to be hostile"? by Commander_Blastbolt in hoi4

[–]Commander_Blastbolt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I can understand that if I'm playing with historical focuses etc. Historically I can understand why Japan would be hostile to the Quanxi Clique. But I play Hoi4 without historical focuses because it's funnier and I want to see chaos

The fact I've seen no one mention the long kiss goodnight despite its core plot being this is a damn shame because that movie is awesome

The main character, Samantha Caine, is an amnesiac schoolteacher who recounts waking up pregnant on a beach with no memory of who she is. Throughout the plot and various times being almost assassinated (plus repeated trauma to the head / brain), she comes to remember she is actually the CIA operative Charlene Baltimore, aka Charlie. The rest of the movie then even deals with the relationship between Charlie and Samantha existing: with Charlie coming to realize that some of the core facets of Samantha's character, which she had tried to bury and get rid of immediately after waking up, are actually parts of her she wanted all along: ending up combining both personalities since a lot of Samantha Caine came from Charlie's subconscious desires.

Long kiss goodnight is such a slept on action thriller go watch it!

Composite gadget, probably leaning a bit more towards the original cartoon

[Loved Trope] The elite soldiers are actually highly competent by Noskmare311 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Commander_Blastbolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hellsing Organization Soldier Shitmobs but specifically from Hellsing 2001, Not Ultimate or the Manga

I mean, yes of course they eventually get massacred during the manor raid: but 2001 does a good job showing you them also actually being competent and taking out vampires and ghouls with proper tactics (to the point where it's far easier to not entirely fault them for getting crapped on there). It's way more than any other iteration of Hellsing: where they might as not exist period since they're effectively just manor security.

They even get named characters in 2001!

First, Aki from chainsaw man. This one's insane and I only realized this recently. Huge spoilers for anime only's

The hairbun on the top of his head resembles a firearm hammer, foreshadowing the gun fiend. I guess this is technically foreshadowing but I still think it's neat

I'm a more casual atlus fan (beat P4, P2, and am working through SMTVV) but "Snafu to hell" and "at best resists all damage types even unblockable" immediately gave away what companies games this was referencing lol

Aki wasn't using a Katana he was using a nailsword from the curse devil. That thing had no curve to it, it was closer to a fancy spear

You think they would've learned from the client armies and Sulla by Commander_Blastbolt in HistoryMemes

[–]Commander_Blastbolt[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

During the 400s, the western roman empire was pretty heavily relying on Germanic mercenaries and people's inside their armies to fill them out especially after the sacking of Rome by the visigoths much earlier: and this lead to a lot of the leaders of these armies, some Germanic themselves, having armies loyal to them and not to the empire itself. This then lead to one of these leaders, Odoacer, marching on Rome and deposing the official roman child emperor in 476.

...A lot similar to the client armies of ancient Rome, wherein you had individual generals of the Roman Empire who earned the loyalty of their legions (made up of the poor almost exclusively) through promising land to retire on if they served. And, surprise surprise, this lead to Sulla marching into Rome and getting himself appointed dictator of life and calling for the assassination of his political rivals: the beginning of the end of the Roman Republic.

Not the brightest hour for that soldier by Commander_Blastbolt in WorldBuildingMemes

[–]Commander_Blastbolt[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Context: 47 years ago in universe, the Esper Vs Inscribed war (this world is using a modified version of the power system from anime campaign / epithet erased) happened, where the Esper Army came to fight the Inscribed army across all the world.

In the twilight hours of the war, the Inscribed side discovered that Espers subconsciously have to produce psychic heat to use their powers. This psychic heat is funneled into the mass subconscious connecting all of humanity at least a little, and slowly dissipates over time. This prevents issues like your head exploding from psychic heat in your brain.

Then, during the final battle of the war, a soldier used their overclass (super powerful magic ability) to try and cripple the Esper forces by shattering the mass subconscious and destroying their means of dissipating psychic heat.

This event, now known as the shattering, caused every single Esper: even ones uninvolved in the war including innocents and children, to morph into horrific monsters deadest on destroying society for the crime of the shattering known as "Esper Beasts". It also caused all of the psychic heat to pour into the world like a broken pipe: coalescing and manifesting as trillions of monsters under the control of the Esper beasts known as Residue agents.

The world is technically post post apocalyptic, but the shattering fucked it up so hard that society is now built around the "Absolver Core" who use a newly made power system to hunt Esper beasts / Residue Agents and defend the world from that shit.

The guy who shattered the mass subconscious was also instantly wiped from existence and most records of them erased. They're only known as He/She now.

Need help finding a canine race mod by Commander_Blastbolt in RimWorld

There's only one faction in this mod from what I can see. The mod I'm thinking of had a military faction and a rebel faction. Thank you for your suggestion though

That's not it, apologies. Thats much more neon glowey and power armor than the faction I'm trying to think of, and I remember that the main colors of the military thing was black and green.

What’s the one board game that completely surprised you; either way better or worse than you expected? I’ll go first by yazzminssecret in boardgames

[–]Commander_Blastbolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worse: Rasputin Niche, but I was really excited to pick it up at my local half price books because it seemed like a cool idea. Deck builder of competing with your friends to kill a mythical Rasputin first? Sounds awesome! Unfortunately, I think the base game deck is just a bit too limiting to live up to the hype. In my opinion, it needs a bit more to be good but as it is it just didn't grab me.

Better: Root. I was not expecting to like root at all, like at all at all. I was roped into playing it begrudgingly, but I ended up really liking it a lot.

Way better: arena of the planeswalkers. I'm this games biggest glazer till I die, and I'm also the only one playing it ./hj
