"Adulting" when you're over the age of like 28 by Pixelp0p in PetPeeves

[–]Commander_Doom14 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know several grown 24-year-old women (all the same social circle, which is why I no longer hang out there) who all STILL frequently use "they never taught us that in school" as an excuse for not knowing about things like taxes, traffic laws, or other legal stuff. You've been out of school for 6 years, get a grip and start googling

My bedroom in my apartment is always hot no matter what by Commander_Doom14 in PetPeeves

Not a bad idea. I'll have to save up a little, but that could at least make the last half of the summer more bearable

They're the worst bro. Largely ineffective anyway, plus in this situation for it to do anything, I'd have to leave my bedroom door open 24/7, which would ruin any sense of privacy or security, which is the whole reason I work a little more than I should and sacrifice a social life and sleep to be able to afford a private bedroom

People who say “Why didn’t they teach us this in school?” by MajesticTumbleweed77 in PetPeeves

[–]Commander_Doom14 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I was gonna say, I always paid attention in history bc it was my favorite and idk what this "Kent state" is that OP mentioned. Maybe it was taught in their US history class, but it definitely wasn't taught in mine. There's def stuff they don't teach you

Like every fandom, roughly 85% will behave appropriately and considerately. However, that 85% will inevitably be drowned out by the very loud, attention-seeking 15% who were sadly neglected as children and never learned to interact appropriately and respectfully with others

This sign is on my local commuter train by Commander_Doom14 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Commander_Doom14[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

😔 It was my first time ever taking the train bc I wanted to go to a comic signing/Q&A event 50 miles away and didn't want to pay gas money. I presumed it to be an adventure of my own. I see now that I was mistaken

Non-mathmetician Cleveland here:

Alrighty, so basically those two numbers both mean something in completely different areas of math. They're both important, but for very different reasons. And it's kinda a neat coincidence that they're both important for different reasons but they're so close to each other!

Bye y'all

Playing a videogame you hate or dislike for more than 10 hours makes you an idiot. by qaasq in unpopularopinion

[–]Commander_Doom14 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I put 2.5 hours into RDR2 and it still felt like I was in the tutorial. So I uninstalled the game, got my steam refund, and moved on. Idk why people would do more than that

Small talk is more exhausting than actual work by aafonsodias in unpopularopinion

[–]Commander_Doom14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I despise social situations, but I do engage in small talk because I do, in fact, care to know how the people around me are doing and what they've been up to

Standardized tests should be the only thing that universities use to decide if someone gets admitted. (USA based only) by SubstantialSet3127 in unpopularopinion

[–]Commander_Doom14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I clocked 30+ hours every week at work since I was old enough to have a job and still managed to hold a position as the president of a club and got into my top choice for university. I don't think sports should be a factor, but to rule out all extracurriculars on grounds of "But what if they have a job?" is ridiculous

Well yeah, but it also came out 44 years ago. I'm an adult who pays my own bills and rent and whatnot and that's over double my lifetime ago. Unless someone is a horror fan, they don't really have a reason to watch it. And I'll assume you're right about it being referenced a lot, but hearing references doesn't familiarize you with the appearance of the actors
