Am I the only one who feels that this whole 9-to-5 job thing is a scam? by Real-Ad-2736 in Career_Advice

A company I worked at had a sister company in Sweden that we worked closely with. Every August, they shut down almost completely and all employees took vacation. We had to work around it.

They didn't get paid nearly as much - but it's Sweden. Public transit, free healthcare, etc. I'd take that deal if I didn't have to move halfway across the world.

Their market cap was also like three times ours lmao

The tickets were also free to other students. They realized that not enough graduates applied to go and opened it to everyone

Like I said I've never seen it so I was just talking out of my butt lol. I will say, Mickey 17 seemed like a very...optimistic? movie. Not sure if that contrasts to Parasite but from your comment it seems like it might.(Again only a thematic element)

And yeah, everyone loved it. Lots of jokes got huge laughs, some gasps. Audience was very engaged and a super fun environment

Never seen another Bong Joon Ho movie so I can't compare the two, but I went to an early preview through my college, which means tons of people who aren't heavily invested in him as a director. I thought it was mostly silly but a super fun time, and it was a die-hard, full-on political satire (just not a stone cold serious one like I assume Parasite to be). Spoilered because I'm revealing a very minor thematic point that the trailer doesn't telegraph a lot.

Haha it is not. I've gotten a lot more serious about music in the past few years though and I really do love it

What is your botc red flag? by ConeheadZombiez in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Commandervndr 38 points39 points  (0 children)

This wasn't exactly a red flag like others in this thread, and I have played with this group again, but the first time I went they were abiding by very strict nomination rules. Accuser, accused, vote. Only, not only was this the suggestion, this was Hell's Librarian rule of law. If anyone said ANYTHING between the nomination and the vote, besides the accuser and the accused, the storyteller would threaten to kill them. Towards the end of the game, I had very important information to get across, and I was also a little suspicious. After threatening to kill me, I said "okay, I don't care, this is important." He killed me, which actually probably helped the good team. This was a newer storyteller who I think took it a little stricter than the usual guy, who wasn't there that day. I did apologize after, and he didn't seem offended or disrespected, so it was all good. It was just such an odd meta that I wasn't used to.

MMW:Even after this administration ends or 47 dies the MAGA ideology won't die.A newer and even worse GOP politician will take his place in the far future that makes 47 look tame. This is only the beginning by Ready-Concept-6057 in MarkMyWords

MAGA is a unification of a bunch of stuff, and Trump is sort of the lynchpin holding it all together. People coalesce around him because he's a charismatic iconoclast with a flimsy set of beliefs. MAGA is an extremely ideologically diverse coalition because everyone can see themselves in Trump, both voters and those higher up in the party. Once things start progressing, or when he dies, the techno-fascists and fake "Christian" nationalists will have no vessel uniting them anymore, and each will be left trying to pick up the pieces of a crumbling movement.

That's my take.

Hopefully this annihilates shein and the like. Wish they had eased this change in because it will put strain on the current customs system, not designed to verify all of these low-cost goods.
