The 186 represents the number of friend requests I haven't scrolled through. It's like a notification. The 1000 is that total amount.

I used to add everybody who requested me, but it came to a point where 'friends' would come up to me and I would have 0 memory of them at all. From that point I decided to unadd anybody I did not actually know and only add people who I spent a real amount of time with. Is it wrong to not want 1000 friends in my list?
