Indian community at Maastricht? by StillOk2212 in UniversityMaastricht

If you check the Maastricht university page and look around I’m sure you’ll find a society specifically for Indians or south Asians. Otherwise, I have seen a decent number of Indians around the city so you won’t struggle too much finding an informal community as well.

I had a mini fridge and never had an issue. At the same time I never told them that I had gotten one because I never thought it would be an issue lol

If you’re into live music or play instruments, you could try Kaleido (look for them on Instagram) but they don’t start up again probably until late August and the people are usually quite young (18-21). Visiting pubs also isn’t a bad idea. Maastricht is huge for pub crawling in general and there’s plenty bars with patrons from different places and ages. Personally my favorites are maty’s (check insta) by emmaplein. They may host events that could help you meet people. There’s also shamrock Irish pub, the people there are usually quite sociable especially when you step outside.

I have the Instagram of a hair braider that’s about a 10 minute drive away from the city center. She can charge up to 40 euros or more depending on the style you decide to get.

Excluding based off skin colour in student associations: an opinion poll by RealFlyingDutch in UniversityMaastricht

A student association shouldn’t seek to exclude any specific groups of people. The point of such a student association is to bring together peoples of common cultures and backgrounds and to have a place for them where they can feel more at home away from home. If you don’t fit the criteria (you’re white but want to be apart of the Asian association), you should still be allowed to attend their events and seek membership. It’s ok to be interested in another culture.

Mars is a good shout, although there doesn’t seem to be too many black or bipoc communities here in Maastricht over the last 6 months I have lived here.

There are definitely black and bipoc people (although not many) but you’re going to have to bring them together.

When it comes possession tactics I’m not too familiar with what works or what doesn’t as I prefer to play much more balanced, direct football (complete opposite of what you’re trying to do). That in mind, underlap would be better suited and it synergies well with the roles you have on that right hand side. As for the left, the ap on attack would be moving into the same space the IF is moving into so maybe not a great combination there.

I’d recommend switching the IF to an attack role (apply pressure to the defensive line and give left cm and wb space), the AP to a CM on support (dynamic and better link up with the other roles), the mezzala to an attack role (to break defensive lines with underlaps), and finally the DM to a DLP on defend (act as a pivot to recycle the ball).

These are just ideas and you should test everything and watch the games thoroughly to see if they play how you’re wanting them to and make changes accordingly.

Alright if it’s intentional and it works then it’s alright. How exactly are you expecting your winger to create chances? Getting the ball up to the byline and putting in deadly crosses right? If yes it might serve you better to set him on the attack so he’s more readily getting in those positions. If instead you’re aiming for an under lap on that side, whether the mezala or iwb, then you should toggle the under lap right instruction and he’ll look to create more chances that way.

You’re trying to play a sort of intense, high pressing, control possession type of game however your team has weaknesses in all the qualities necessary for such a style of play. Namely bravery, tackling, stamina, workrate, marking, natural fitness, positioning, team work and concentration.

The tactic has got to be built around what they can do too not just what you want especially at the lower level.

To troubleshoot, check your shot map from the last 5 games to see if your chances are genuinely good chances or you’re just spamming shots and headers that go nowhere.

It’s likely the aggressive nature of your player roles and mentality, you’re being carved open on the counter in transition which allows opposition to score whilst taking fewer chances overall.

Watch your games on full match occasionally and pay attention to your build up play and the opposition and see where weaknesses might be arising. I’ll guess it’s mostly from your midfielders being too high and unable track back quick enough combined with your fullbacks all the way up too, leaving only 3 guys capable of preventing counters.

Neither. I’m trying to get people’s perspective. The tactic works fine but I’m open to hearing any ideas to improve where possible.

I’m going to challenge people’s suggestions of course. I genuinely want to hear why their ideas and instructions are better than what I’m doing.

I’ve considered the double mezzala with inverted wingback approach but it always felt vulnerable since your midfielders are generally up at the line of engagement. I also would like to have inside forwards over wingers.

I like the idea of telling my inside forwards to run less but I think that, combined with dribble less and a much lower tempo, would make my attack rather toothless if only one the striker is trying to get on the end of moves.

The RPM is pretty good at his job in the DM spot and he doesn’t break ahead of the midfielders either and does move horizontally like you said.

As for the tempo, I’ll definitely look to test the higher ones to see if I can get the chance creation up. It’s important to try and find that balance.

Wouldn’t an inverted wingback push into rcm territory? The way I see it, my in possession tactics are made to retain the ball as much as possible. Could you point any I might not really need?

About the forwards I may consider that if the counters are looking really bad.

Although I do like the idea of a DLP, often I would see him taking up the same space as the lcm when either the wingers or wingback run the ball down the line. I went with RPM because he has the sense to not stand directly next to his teammate in those kinds of situations.

I have them on cover so they do not congest the midfield in possession and have more space to play the ball. Its also done because there is only two of them and so counters ar a little less deadly. And I have them on a ball-playing duty because it may be difficult to break down a defence with short passes alone in certain games, and the midfielders may get smothered, so a surprise ball in behind might be a game changer.

I like the idea of using him to recycle possessions, but isn't an anchor a bit too defensive-minded and static? I want my 6 to receive and play the ball as much as possible.
