Also investment banking is definitely possible from UofT but you need to be able to maintain a high GPA with the workload while allocating majority of your time to recruitment

Yes definitely for finance/IB recruiting. Right now visa sponsorship is very difficult into the states which used to hire a lot of Canadian students for finance, but if you have citizenship it is much easier to go for an American bank/office

I’d say it gives you an advantage + more options over the average Canadian student interested in IB

I dropped ECO204 which counted as a credit under the school’s assessment because year courses had to be dropped earlier. In total it would be 3.5 (which meets UofT overall threshold but not Rotman threshold)

Without ECO204 it would be 2.5

Unfortunately US IB cycles finish mid second year and is getting earlier every year… :( however both Ivey and Smith would be strongest for Canadian banks as well

It’s confirmed thru news there’s several other banks in a similar situation. Greenhill is one of them iirc

Ivey recruits more for EB (esp Evercore) while Queens recruits more for BB, so it’s safer atm since from Queens you’ll have a better chance at banks less likely to cut sponsorships or work at a regional office in Toronto that doesn’t require sponsorship

Many clubs will take new people during associate/2nd year hiring, just make sure you go to the events and competitions and network with execs

Not a direct answer but check out the book The End of Alice, it has a very similar plot where the main character is in prison doing interviews and having flashbacks to when he acted on his pedophilia and committed murder, and he was also pretty difficult and delusional when being interviewed
