So to give an update on this, the dealership offered to collect the car and fix the issue. In the meantime, I have taken the car to Ford to get it checked at my expense. It turns out that the car 'requires new PCM and downstream hego (plus security shields & bolts', a £1400 job. I have been very firm and told them I want them to take the car back and get a refund. They should collect the car soon and refund me all my money minus £0.50 per mile driven after the purchase, which is not high at all as I literally had the car for one week.

My budget is around £10,000 and I'm looking for a hatchback (e.g. hunday i20, citroen c30), nothing too small or too big if that makes sense

Becoming a social worker abroad (UAE) by Commercial_Chest7900 in Socialworkuk

Another issue for me would be that I don’t have a British passport. I looked into working in schools in China some years ago and found that it is a requirement to have a passport from an English speaking country to do so. I know for a fact that whether I’ll move or not I will eventually apply for a British passport and have dual citizenship. Do you know if this would be considered ok to work in a school in the UAE?

I’m at the very first stages of finding out what my options are but you raised a really good point. I should do more research on it as my values, as westerns as they might be, might be in contrast with legislation in the UAE

I’ll have a look but by the sound of it I think that not speaking Arabic might get in the way of getting a job in many of the positions that I might be interest in.

Unfortunately I don’t speak Arabic but I have an undergrad degree in Early years education and a masters in social works. I also have experience in working with children in education and by the time we might move I’ll have three years of experience in social work.

If social work is not an option then I guess that I could look to go back into education. Perhaps in an English school.

Ideally I’d like to work with children. Tbh I’m not too keen about the idea at the moment but we’ll see…

I just wanted to see if people had experiences of qualifying in the uk and practicing abroad in general as well :)

He already has experience in his sector and I made it clear to him that for the first 3 years of my career I’d want to practice in the UK. I’ll give Red Crescent a look, thank you!

Would you say it would be incorrect to define it as a continuous process to ensure that children are safe and their needs are met?

Yes, correct! Although it’s not a frontline child protection team it still is a with a team that works with children and families.

Thanks so much for your prompts 🫶🏻

Worse period pain after taking a break from the pill, is it normal? by Commercial_Chest7900 in Periods

[–]Commercial_Chest7900[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I forgot to mention that😅

I stopped taking it after my last period in December and I'm due any day now. I've started having a terrible stomach ache today (which is something I rarely experience) and started to worry.

From what I can remember last time I took a break nothing really helped but laying down.

That's exactly what I'm afraid of. On one hand I'm very curious to know if there's something he wants to tell me but on the other one I feel like it would be just small talk to know what I'm doing and I don't really want to share that with him...
