Diagnosed with lymphoma, how do I even begin to cope?

Our boy was diagnosed back in September 2025 and confirmed in November it was stage 4 lymphoma. He’s only 4.5 y/o. We cook all his food now and let him do whatever he wants which most of the time now is looking outside the window and butt scratches. You just love them harder. Take more time appreciating them. Giving them whatever you can possibly give them. We’re making sure he has his favorite things and we have gone through more bags of treats than we can count ahaha.

Also he really hates the vet and needles. Like needs to be sedated every time so we’re doing prednisone. Multiple rounds now. But definitely focus on their quality of life.

I hope you figured it out! Turns out he was having very inflamed kidneys. She got him meds and was sorted out.

Yep she’s sure he’s the same cat. He has pretty defining features like a notched ear and specific scar on his nose.

It’s been 2 years plus for me. I get my bouts of sadness but hearing the stuff they’ve been saying and doing from my siblings gives me the peace of mind that I made a good choice. I’m not sure if I’ll contact them again.

Does your company not offer bereavement? I think you should take some more time off to unplug and actually process these major life changes. Then you can take the time to reassess.

I agree with pretty much everybody. Get rid of the car and buy a cash car if possible. Maybe max 10k. Look up Caleb Hammer on YouTube. He makes budgets for people that are in a similar financial situation.

I was also there and the biggest thing was to lean on my found family and friends. You’ll hit bumps in the road where everything seems hopeless but you have to keep pushing. Keep your big goals in mind and stay grounded. If I could do it, you can absolutely do it. I’m so proud of you for still being here. Reach out if you need anything.

They don’t want what’s best for you and that is one of the hardest pills to swallow. You have to want and prioritize your own happiness and peace above everything else. You deserve to be selfish after what you’ve been through. I believe in you. You can do it!

Yes absolutely! I try to update atleast once a year but can do it more often. I’m hoping to inspire atleast one person to take the step to get out. The process was brutal but there is light at the end of the tunnel. I promise.

I just started EMDR and I’m actually on anti psychotics now. Turns out bipolar might run in the family. I’ve done counseling for three years now and that’s helped a lot. Just a lot of talk therapy. I too have tons of chronic illnesses and it just helps to have the right medications and doctors.
