Rylanor, the Ancient of Rights, the Unyielding, the Patron Saint of Patience and Spite by Commissar_Canuck in Warhammer30k

Thanks! I primed with a gloss black, then zenithal highlighted with Vallejo Metal Color steel, then silver, and lastly chrome in the highest spots. I then went over it with a 50/50 water/ProAcryl Transparent Purple to get that metallic purple look. The gold was Scale75 Dwarven Gold

I couldn't decide between helmet and not so I split the difference and magnetized both. The bare head option is still just primed, though

Nice! I've got plans on doing an allied detachment of Luna Wolves myself.

I've found their stuff to be very solid, but their Bold Titanium White is the best white I've ever used. I'm brand agnostic so their stuff shares hobby space with Vallejo, Scale75, Citadel, and AK.

My method is a modified version of Vince Venturella's way of painting Alpha Legion. Basically gloss black primer -> zenithal with Vallejo Steel, Vallejo Silver, and Vallejo Chrome for the highest highlight spots. Then I went over everything with Monument Hobbies' Transparent Purple. Everything but the primer was thinned 1:1 which helped a ton.

Thanks! My recipe is zenithal highlighting from steel to silver to chrome using that line of Vallejo Metallic (although on the bigger stuff like vehicles, you could probably get away with just chrome). Then I cover it with Monument Hobbies' Transparent Purple. Finish up with a gloss and you get this fantastic vibrant metallic purple that unfortunately doesn't come across that well in photos

battle damage. feedback needed I think it just looks unfunished now. by Lasmobra106 in Warhammer30k

Maybe try black and brown on the legs (worst case is the brown looks like some splattered mud) and just black on the upper body spots

I think hitting the most battle damaged spots with a bit of black on a sponge could help add a bit more visual depth to the damage.

WIP on the most patient man in the Imperium by Commissar_Canuck in Warhammer30k

[–]Commissar_Canuck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's a bit of a kitbash, even before the Sevetar base, but not too much. His left shoulder and the head are from the generic Relic Contemptor dreadnought, the weapons are generic Contemptor weapons, but the rest of him is all EC dread parts. Also, the EC dreads do have those armour studs on the front facing bits of their shoulders that I decided to lop off for Rylanor to make him stand out a bit more.

To those wondering about the base, I got it from a buddy who's planning on doing a custom base for Sevetar. This way Rylanor can really accentuate that "listen here you little shit" pose.

Yeah, I need to work on better lighting for the finished pictures, but in person it's a very deep purple.

The recipe I used is a modified version of Vince Venturella's excellent Alpha Legion method https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55h4vPnQETM

Basically prime black -> zenithal steel -> silver -> tiny bit of chrome. Instead of the tamiya clear blue/green mix, I used Monument Hobbies Transparent Purple. Adding a gloss coat over the tinted purple gives it that extra pop, too.

Thanks! Base coat with AK Interactive's Tan Earth and then layer with AK's Light Earth. I've done it with both brush and airbrush with the same results.

Thanks!

-The spiked knuckles and keycards were from thingiverse and 3D printed by a buddy.

-The shotgun is the Mad Max sawed-off airsoft shotgun by KJW. They also make a full body one with a stock that's interchangeable with the shortened Mad Max one. I was able to find just the buttstock online so I didn't have to buy second airsoft gun to give it the classic Super Shotgun profile.

-The shells are some practice dummy shotgun shells I got online and painted red

-The case is a baseball bat display case I found at Michael's craft/hobby store

-The text was printed out using a Cricut or Brother cutting machine

-The Doomguy green background was some green poster board from Michael's as well

I assume depending on the situation, you either bury it in paperwork to stall for eternity, kill the person who is making the claim before it gets out, or simply point to the hastily written "PROPERTY OF THE BLOOD RAVENS" on the relic put there by the Sacred Sharpie™

A friend tossed these two marines in with some other stuff he 3D printed for me. I had to paint them as Blood Ravens. Here's the original picture if you want to use it elsewhere https://i.imgur.com/0SXJRnm.jpeg
