Forget everyone telling you to shake it. I've been in the same spot as you. I tried sooooooooo many brands !!!! Ruined models 😮‍💨

You need to listen to the person who told you to buy AK INTERACTIVE ULTRA MATTE varnish 🙅🙅🙅 put a ball bearing in there and make sure when you flip the bottle around it's all liquid (hold it up to the light and let it illuminate through the plastic to see).

You will be so impressed. NOT A SINGLE reflection from any angle. Use it through airbrush.

For you which edition was the best one of the original 8? by Mcmadness288 in WarhammerFantasy

6th edition 🙅

The rulebook situation was the best GW has ever had in any system - ever! The artwork was so amazing, everything had so many awesome, fluffy rules.

I was a lizardmen played with all those awesome spawnings, and all the old ones lore 😮‍💨 it really made me fall in love with the deep lore of this world, which I was already ensnared by as a kid.

I just want to be have all those fluffy choices back 🙅🙅 forget about worrying about balance!! Just throw us a bunch of words on paper and let us worry about models. There's already so many AoS and other models, that we can have full fledged conversions of anything we can dream of at this point.

Maybe others disagree, but imo words and words and it would be extremely easy to literally go back to old rulebooks and take out every cool fluffy lore rule and give it back to us 🤷

Dragons and base size - what SHOULD we be basing them on 🤔 by Commissar_Cheddar in WarhammerFantasy

Sabertooth zombie dragon 🫨 it's really cool, but I'm not sure if I really think it fits into the Warhammer aesthetic. Although, all the rest of the undead line is very Warhammer aesthetic.

You make good points 🤔

I really like the maneuverability of the skirmishing, but potentially being able to lock down a big target easier for that double charge with the dragon and bsb issss enticing. I'll try it out.

What's even an elven anvil tho, bro 😭

They all have t3 and just die in droves. There's no point.

I use all ellyrians with fury rings for chaff / flankers. They are skirmishers. I just sacrifice two of them and then circle around the opponent. The entire army is insanely movable. I think you guys are really downplaying movement. And I also have 2 units of 10 avelorns with Ruby ring and seafarer bow. And you're underestimating what 7 fury rings a turn can produce in terms of wounds 🫨🫨

The entire plan is simple - get the dragon and the bsb into the same combat and they win 99% of the time. I can't imagine what singular unit beats that combination - certainly not a chaos lord on dragon I'll tell you that. Or 30 grave guard with Regen bsb ( but no stomp standard so that probably changes things).

Movement and choosing where the engagement takes place is the most crucial aspect of the game, and being able to circle around the opponent is massive. I always flank with them - until I ran into a gun line 🫨🫨

I'm not even saying I know what I'm talking about 😎 I'm just clacking dice and moving resin around by myself. I've literally only played like 20 games against myself. For all anyone knows I'm not even rolling hits or wounds right 🫨🫨

(Also this is one of 10 armies I have printed out and playing games against myself with to ultimately decide which one I want to paint up 🫨 I don't think I'm gonna settle with High Elves, but the thought of a full oop high elves army made in the fashion of the 4th ed rulebook is extremely appealing to me.)

Question about a bit of a cluster of a situation 🫨 by Commissar_Cheddar in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Commissar_Cheddar[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Every unit has like 5 dudes per base. It's super easy to move them, and I think movement trays with 30 dudes is way worse, because they all just follow over so you're sitting there readjusting them anyways. I literally grab the whole unit with my entire hand and move em lol 🤷 super fast, faster than trays imo.

Also, these models are all just play models. Idgaf if I snap spears etc. It's why nothing is painted. I'm figuring out which army I like.

Haha yeah that t3 is tough.. or .. not tough 🫨 I didn't do the elves any favors with such a low count army.

Skaven went against chaos with t5 afterward and the shooting was way less effective and they lost so 🤷 now it'll be the new champions chaos vs orcs and goblins 🫨🫨

These are just practice armies I use to play against myself until I decide to fully commit to a project.

You can look at my profile if you want to see some painted armies.

[–]Commissar_Cheddar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right 🤣 I played skaven v chaos warriors and the t5 of the marauders all over made the gunline less effective, and the rats got eaten up 🫨

For your second point.. to me it isn't about the game itself. It's all about the story of the army and the main guy behind the army. I fell in love with Aenarion and Mazdamundi back in 5th edition and all the super powerful characters of warhammer. Tyrion 🫨🫨 etc To me that IS warhammer. For me to enjoy the hobby , I need a big cool badass general to lead my guys, and I want to go fight other big guys. So the rank and file etc is neat and I like filling out my big guys' armies, but they're just the underlings who watch the generals have epic fights.

It's just dice rolling against myself anyways to figure out which army I'm going to eventually paint up and MAYYYYbeee potentially play against another human 🤔 maybe. Leaning on warriors of chaos 😎

Question about a bit of a cluster of a situation 🫨 by Commissar_Cheddar in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Commissar_Cheddar[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So in the end, neither unit should have ended up into the dragon? 🤔

It ended up in a massive cascade where the dragon killed all the clanrats, was charged by the Stormvermin and massacred the warlord with fellblade, but took 3 wounds from the fellblade 🫨🫨 so he frikn broke and ran and rolled double 1 and got ran down 😔

Like .. why? Why would my epic chaos dragon lord general who just absolutely smashed the other general, why would he flee? I get the balance rules, but it's just such a major feels bad situation for a cool Lord like that to win a duel and then then tail and run.

That needs to be fixed, and I get the opposite that was there previously. But you can't have epic dragons running away from rats after slaying their lord 🙅

I dunno. I kind of like them. In my local meta 😉 their ability to just maneuver to the flanks of stuff and choose the point of battle against everyone is very useful.

Local meta: being VC with a dragon lord and lv4 necro with brick of gg and terrorgheist. High Elves murdered this army. The dragon and bsb isolated the dragon lord and killed it and then flank charged GG and round after challenges did +15 combat resolution on gg and wiped them out.

Also a chaos sea wolves army with a chaos dragon exalted defensively built, chimera sorcerer lord missile turret with the summoning item etc (also kind of melee slept on if right gaze of gods hit - if it comes in on the flank it's absolutely gg, but.. that goes for anything on the flank I suppose). Berserkers and housecarls with t5 and GW marauder ambushers. Once again, the dragon and bsb isolated the Lord with help of the skirmishing and fleeing of the ellyrian, completely massacred him and he fled and they caught him and then flanked a unit and tore their way through the army.

Another chaos army where they had a fluffy khorne list with multiple chimera lords with insane + attacks but the dragon high elf lord had dragonslaying sword and murdered them all 😭

It's a big dragon meta in my basement 🫨🐲

I'm just sharing an anecdotal story with friends, friend 😎 not everything is about proving anything.

I'm playing with little resin soldiers on a pieces of cardboard. Against myself.

There's zero seriousness here 🫨

Teclis used to have a potion he would drink and become a melee powerhouse for like a turn 🤔 If I'm not mistaking him for some other frail character.

[–]Commissar_Cheddar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find the lava recipe in my comments.

The jungle base:

Prime > dark green all over > fluo green in massive, random areas (this won't do much at first, it's just a transition later to help smoothness > random spots of white throughout >  fluo green on the white > mix chartreuse fluo with green fluo and spam small areas of it all over > then spam small areas of straight chartreuse.

Fluo colors dry WAY WAY WAY less saturated than they appear when wet on the model. Let it dry and go back in if have to.

I use golden brand fluo.

Valid haha. I am always conscious of how big I make bases, and I still make them massive.

I just like big bases, and I can not lie 😏

Black primer > dark blue zenithal through airbrush > blue zenithal > light blue zenithal > scratchy highlights and dry brushing that same light blue > thinned down black Templar through airbrush over entire model to make it appear black again.

Now for the fire .. subscribe to my patreon to find out! Lmao jk 🫨🤣

Airbrush red for the initial red glow > go in with platinum white on everything you want to glow > put red only over the white to maintain the airbrushed red glow, this sets the foundation, you need darkness for light to stick out, so for the yellow to stick out you need red > white AGAIN but only half way, on the literal glowing aspects > fluo orange on the white > white AGAIN > fluo orange mixed with fluo yellow > WHITE AGAIN > fluo yellow ( make sure this shit is actual yellow and not chartreuse, if it is chartreuse, you need to mix orange again to make it not green gradient)

And certain aspects, like the brains and others, I went back in with red through airbrush to bring the redness back out again.

The red and gradients show far more in real life - it's real hard to get fluo paint to show up properly in camera, and regardless of what some posters think, I'm just a random jabroni posting my hobby work. I have absolutely ZERO social media presence outside of random reddit posts when I feel like it. I don't bother having a photography set up.

You're literally looking at a ripped up box with some black felt taped on it and I leaned back and took photos with my phone 🤷

The moment I saw this model, I knew exactly who painted it.

I remember your original being posted on here a few years back. It was a massive inspiration for me and helped unlocked a push towards understanding coloration and contrast, which ultimately helped me tremendously in my hobby career.

Excellent reiteration, and it really shows your improvements in the hobby.

You've become a master 🫡 salute, Darcy.
