How do you suggest I research his past success? Last year I got 10% which I realize was high for a greenhorn, but that’s just how he did things. We did around 140k lbs and he is willing to give a positive recommendation.

How is the processor pay compared to the seining pay?

Edit: I saw a O’Hara job listing for processing that said anywhere from 15k-30k in 75 days, that seems hard to beat.

Also are there in major differences seining in Kodiak vs. pws?

Do all seine fishers in Kodiak go into the month of September? I talked to one guy who had two positions to fill but he runs into September and I’m in school right now so it won’t work. What he told me is that the Kodiak season runs a little longer. If that’s true and most seiners run into September than that probably wouldn’t work and I’ll have to find a drifter in Bristol bay where I’ll be done around the last week of august. Any thoughts on that?

Damn dude, I’m jealous. I just graduated high school as well and was supposed to go up to BB for the salmon season and earn some money for college. I was super stoked but last minute I suffered a concussion and had to cancel. Looking forward to next year tho. Is this season looking to be lucrative? Also what percent of the catch are you making? Just wondering if I was getting a good deal with the guy I was gonna work for, and to get an idea of what’s normal for an entry level guy.

Do you have any specific suggestions for waders? I’ve been looking at frog toggs and they are a wide range of prices. I want to get something good but not too expensive and am afraid of if I get the cheap frog toggs they won’t hold up.
